As we see that every year in winter many cases of gas leakage occur in our society, in result of which we lose hundreds of precious lives every year. According to one report there has been so many incidents of gas leakage occurs every year in Quetta, in last few years we have lost almost 1000 to 2000 precious lives All over Pakistan. And there is no such a protection system to save the lives of our beloved ones from the sudden death. So, to resolve this issue, we are designing a smart gas accident protection system, which will work efficiently on these circumstances and will successfully protect our lives from gas leakage accidents. It will be more efficient system using four types of sensors to detect different type of harmful gases and Solenoid gas valve to cut off the gas flow in case of leakage. The four sensors are Methane sensor (MQ 4), Carbon Monoxide sensor (MQ 7), Temperature sensor (LM35), and Smoke sensor (Mq2). Most effective and valuable feature is that “The System is user controllable”, Which means user can set the thresholds for all sensors and the system will work accordingly. In case of gas leakage in room, factory, or industry the Methane gas sensor will sense the gas, while reaching to the thresholds set by user the solenoid gas valve will automatically cut off the gas flow also the system will start an alarm to inform the personals. Same like Methane sensor, Smoke and CO sensors will detect the respective gases and will inform the personals in any alarming situations. Hence, it will provide a huge benefit to our society, and we can save many lives through this.
Project ObjectivesSmart Gas Accident Protection System (SGAPS) for domestic applications is a device which is used for the sake of safety in case of gas leakage. The system works upon the different sensors which will detect the methane in case of leakage, smoke in case of fire, CO (Carbon Monoxide) in case of excessive using of heaters due to which oxygen level gradually decreases and CO increases, Temperature in case of heat. SGAPS is user friendly device, which allows users to self-set the threshold values for all sensors, It shows all sensors real time readings on LCD screen and acts according to the situation. The system consists of four sensors MQ 4 for detection methane, MQ 2 for smoke, MQ 7 for CO and Lm35 for temperature. In addition to these it also consists of solenoid valve to cut off the gas flow, alarm to inform the personals, also an android application (Optional) to inform the family members (outside the home) about the emergency situations using WiFi module.
All the sensors and alarm is directly attached to Arduino uno which will work here as a micro controller, solenoid is controlled through relay module. In gas pipeline solenoid will connected to place from where we want to control the flow.
Project Implementation MethodAs the project is designed for domestic usage, so it is necessary that the project should be able to fit in the pre-existing gas fittings.
We can fit the final prototype in pre existing valve system so that no new measures will be takken.
Benefits of the Projectit is highly reliable and useful in protection of gas accidents. can be used every wehre, where methan gas is used. through this project we can save lives in homes, hospitals, malls, industries and many other places where gas is present.
main objective of this project is to detect methan gas and smartly take action against it and provide safety and any hazardous situation.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableSmart gas accident protection system is a device containing 4 types of sensors Methan, CO, Temprature and Smoke sensor to detect the respective Hazards and alert the members about the danger. real time sensor values will be shown on LCD display and mobile application. in any emergancy the system will automaticaly cutt off the gas flow, generate an alarm and send alert through mobile application so that the appropriate measures should be taken by members.
