Smart Footstep Power Generation for low power applications
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryAs the availability of conventional energy declines, there is need to find alternate energy sources. Almost all the state electricity departments in our country are unable to supply the power according to the demand. Out of the many alternative energy resources, this technology (power generation from footstep) is the ultimate source of all known forms of energy. It is clear, safe, and free, does not pollute the environment and thus will be an extremely viable alternative in the days to come
In this project we are converting Mechanical energy into Electrical energy. We are trying to utilize the wasted energy in a useful way. When the flooring is engineered with piezoelectric technology, the electrical energy produced by the pressure is captured by floor sensors and converted to an electrical charge by piezo transducers, then stored and used as a power source. And this power source has many applications as in agriculture, home application and street lighting and as energy source for sensors in remote locations.
Project Objectives- To generate the electricity through the human footsteps
- To control the generated electricity efficiently.
- To promote the non-conventional energy source to save conventional energy sources.
- no run low power applications.
In our project, we have used the piezoelectric sensors to convert kinetic energy to electrical energy and that energy will be converted to DC by the use of rectifier and then it will be regulated so it may store in the rechargeable battery. We are using switches to control our load. We are using IOT block to link hardware and software. We are using Arduino to monitor the following statuses that are shown in model.
- Instantaneous voltage to know that how many volts are generated through each step.
- Charging status to know the current status of battery.
- Automatic light control so that it could function automatically
- Over load monitoring to protect our battery from over loading, In case of overload, all loads will be automatically cut off.
- Load power monitoring to know the power consumptions of load
And then all these statuses will be monitored on the interface in phone.
Benefits of the Project- Independent of weather conditions.
- Eco-friendly.
- Maintenance requirements are lower.
- Non-conventional saves money.
we see at different places like bus stops, airports, railway stations and malls etc, they are crowided most of the time. And energy of footsteps is being wasted when people walk. So, here we are presenting our idea to utilize that energy in an efficient way. We are using piezoelectric sensors for this purpose. That genereated energy will be stored in a batttery to drive the load.
