Project Summary

Smart Fit Optics is a virtual Spectacles try on mobile application designed to cater specifically local optics shop and consumers with week eyesight in Karachi. Purpose of this project is provision of ease in the process of selecting and buying aye wears to the consumers in this current pandemic situation. It is observed that people face difficulty in choosing seemly specs that too materially. To solve this issue, feature of trying on specs on screen is provided before purchasing. It would help consumers to take their time to select appropriate and optimal eye wears without wasting time of shop keepers.

People are picky and take time to decide on eye wears that suit their face. It is quite difficult to do so as in pandemic situation they avoid to stay out for this long.  This application will allow consumers to have a virtual mirror on their screen and try as long as they want until they get satisfied devoid of any hassle.

With the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses have shifted to online platforms. Those companies who have been solely dependent upon physical trading have to face major decline in their sales. It was a huge struggle for such companies to shift towards e-commerce and many did not try to begin due to lack of resources. One of them is the local eye wears industry. Many of their consumers, have to face a lot of trouble in purchasing specs and have to pause their work for a time period until the government has lifted the lockdown. This pandemic has made businesses realized that if they do not shift to online platforms soon, they might lose their target market.

After analyzing this scenario, we came to conclude that if local food industry (restaurants, grocery etc.) and apparel industry have grown their businesses using e-commerce then why not our local specs shops. This would not only assist local specs shops in increasing their sales and reaching out to more consumers but it will also ease the process of buying eye wears for consumers.

Eyewear breaks and we need a new one immediately or when we have a tough busy day schedule and can’t walk out to shop or if we’re scared to go out in public market due to COVID…. We will sit & worry.

  • We will present a system for virtual try-on of eyeglasses, acting as a “virtual mirror”, allowing users to try on a variety of eyeglasses according to their requirement.
  • This platform will provide an online facility for the people who are dependent on other & cannot travel to any optics shop. So, they can sit back, try any glass frame and buy it online at home.
  • User can try on screen variety of eye wear glasses, shades for men, women & kids, also you can share your image to your friends for their suggestion as well.

Project Objectives

The main objective of this application is

  • To provide ease to shop eye wear online for its users using our virtual try on solution.
  • The virtual try on solution is an innovative approach which lets the user use the augmented reality to try on products and it’s an advanced way to boost traditional marketing it will help the user to find their picture-perfect frame.
  • To launch the website within eight to nine months’ time period.

To provide necessary system documentations that goes with the project before the deployment of the website

Project Implementation Method

We would adopt agile methodology for the development of system. Mobile application feature of Face Detection, by clicking on face detection option system detect user face. After this user select any glasses from the Glasses Collection all type of frames will be available on this collection section so user easily select their favorites ones and after selecting frame it will be appear on user face which was detected by our face detection feature. User try multiple frames individually. There will be a feature Sharing with Friends through this feature user easily share their favorite look with their friends and family. After user satisfaction he will buy their shades online through Add to Cart feature and it will be easily reach to their door step.

We are developing a mobile based application system by using Android Studio. For face detection feature development, we are using AR kit and face detection code

  • It provides the realistic rendering of the product in the customer’s environment in real time.
  • You can even share the results with friends to help decide if the new specs or shades suit you.
  • The customized option of the app allows the user to change the pattern, color, size, and lot more.
  • This app supports a strong decision-making process that helps the customers to decide the correct option.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • We are developing a mobile base application system by using Android Studio.
  • For face detection feature development, we are using AR kit and face detection code.
  • We have a feature in which our system suggests glasses which one is looking good on user face or user should also select their favorite ones and it will appear on user face so for developing this feature we are using 3D technology and Augmented Reality.
  • We have a feature of Add to cart in which user enter their information for buying product and in login user enter their contact no for saving and managing all these data we will use SQL server.
  • In our application we also provide a web link in this web we provide some basic information to our new user like how to use our app if they face some difficulty and demo video how to use it so for developing web, we use HTML5.
  • We will use camera to capture the glasses image and places all that images in our glasses collection.
  • We will use mobile phones for screening and testing the project.
