Project Summary

Our project Smart Brains is for the children facing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is a developmental disability caused by differences in brain. People with ASD often have problems with social communication and interaction, and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests. Smart Brains is for the children from age 1-5. Our application will have some animated videos based on different concepts and when the children will see the videos, our application will analyze the rapid behavioural change of the children by detecting their expressions in real time. Therapists can also use our application while giving therapies to the children to keep a record that how rapidly their mood is changing on different therapies. Our application will generates a behavioral report of children showing how rapidly they are responding and how rapidly their mood is changing. We are also cordinating with an autistic centre located in Karachi, they will be helping us in our project till the end. 

Project Objectives

The main objective is to provide assistance to the autistic rehabilitation centres and parents so that they can keep a proper record of how their children is responding on different therapies.

Project Implementation Method

Firstly we will gather the requirements related to our project. After gathering the requirements we will move towards the dataset collection. As soon as we collect our dataset we will start training our model on the dataset firstly for face detection and then for face expression detection of autistic children using machine learning and deep learning algorithms. After completing this process we will move towards the testing of the model that is it is predicitng right and giving right answers. After getting the accuracy we will move towards the designing of our application. We will keep testing the modules and features of our application in between. As soon as our aplication is ready we will integrate our software model with the application and test the whole application altoghether. This is how the implementation process will work.

Benefits of the Project

Manually generating progress reports for each child is a lengthy task however, our aoolication will streamline this process by generating progress reports based on real-time detection. 

Therapists can analyse changing behaviours and work on them with the help of the report generated by our application.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

As our project is mainly based on AI so for the Face expression detection in real time we will be using machine learning and deep learning algorithms like CNN, ANN and others. It can be delivered and can work properly if it is implemented properly. It can be a big task to achieve and we will do our best to achieve it.

Another technical tool we will be using is the raspberry pi camera, we will use it for capuring the students behaviour in real time. There will be no hurdles in delivering the result.

We are also using tensorflow and opencv for image processing. 

We will be using flutter for making our application and we are hoping to not have any hurdles with this technology.
