Project Summary

Eye sight is the most important sense of the human body and they need special care.  People tend to forget that eyes too need exercise as well as rest for its proper functioning but now a days people are not taking it seriously and this makes their eye sight weak. So then they take appointments, visit different optometrists and try to satisfy themselves by using compatible glasses.

It increases the level of impairment and as usual the only traditional way of testing eye sight which is generally done by “Auto-Refractor” is being used and this is a time taken process.

According to us the major problem that we notice is that if people have a near or distance vision impairment so they require compatible glasses for it under the consultation of optometrist and for this they need to visit the clinic.

This is the actual problem that somehow we want to minimize this time with some profitable output which means that the user can check his eye sight by itself just using a portable device instead of taking appointments. We want to provide an affordable, safe and convenient at-home vision solution for everyone

So we decided to minimize this time while doing something innovative in such a way that we will design a mobile application that will be integrated with our device with the help of tech.

Project Objectives

Ancient civilization had their own way of conducting eye sight tests. Another longstanding fixture in an eye exam is the iconic Snellen eye chart. In modern era, now we have cameras that can snap detailed pictures of the back of the eye moving further a machine named “automated –refractor” has been designed to provide an objective measurement of a person’s refractive error and prescription for glasses and contact lenses.

Living in the 21st century we decided to do something innovative so we come with an idea that we will replace this whole auto-refractor machine just with a small portable device. It is our goal to make our innovation come true till the end of our project.

Key features of our project are;

  • Detect your eye sight and will prescribe you an Eye Glass Number.
  • It will also detect other diseases (astigmatism).
  • Furthermore while achieving our main goal we will also try to generate a prediction chart on the basis of your current eye sight.

Project Implementation Method

  • Firstly we will design our application and it will be our motive to make an effective and easy to use application so that our users can easily get interacted with the application’s UI without doing any sort of mistakes.
  • After designing the prototype of our application we will then do the development of our application in such a way that it fulfill all the basic criteria of our idea.
  •  Moving further then we will integrate our application with the sensor which is “Shack-Hartmann Wave front Sensor” to measure your vision.
  • Basically Shack-Hartmann utilizes optical lenses that will be combined with the mobile’s pixel movement to measure where the light focuses in the back of your retina in your eye.
  • In case if we needed the support of database so we will use cloud base analyze database for storing the data.
  • Furthermore as we said that we will also try to generate a prediction chart with the help of machine learning in such a way that we will train models on the basis of the collected data.

  • It can be easily use in an efficient way as it requires less time with an affordable price. So everyone can easily use it without facing any sort of problem.
  • As we said that it is affordable as we provide our solution in an optimal cost so everyone can easily afford it.
  • Fourth one but not the least that it minimizes your overall time consumption as we don’t have to visit the optometrists.
  • Another core benefit of our product can be that particular chart that will predict your vision impairment on the basis of your current eyesight so it will become a source of self -awareness for users.  

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • First of all we gather all of the information and data related to our project, go through different research papers to sum up our idea and this whole process proceed till April.
  • From May we will move towards the section of designing and prototyping.
  • Developing and coding section of our project will be start from July.
  • After completing our development of project we will proceed towards its integration from October.
  • Testing will be done in the month of November.
  • And in the last we will roll out our finished product till December. Moving further if we successfully roll out our product under the mentioned timeline so we will also work on our “prediction feature” too otherwise we will add it later on.
