Smart audio testing and hearing aid
The project is about transforming a mobile phone into an hearing aid. Moreover, a standalone hardware modules will be build that can be used as an Insect Repellent devices in home appliances such as Refrigerators and Microwave Ovens or as as Hearing Aid device for sound impaired individuals.
An insect repellent will help protect from mosquitoes, cockroaches, mice, and lizards etc that spread diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, and Yellow Fever. Such a device is designed to work by emitting high-frequency sounds in the range of 20KHz to 30 KHz that are inaudible for humans to hear but are just the right frequency to drive Insects, Mosquitoes, and Lizards away.
Moreover, it should be noted that there are over 1.5 Billion people globally who live with hearing loss. This number could rise up to over 2.5 billion by 2030. We are integrating the functionality of a hearing aid in cell phone and standalone hardware module to help reduce this number. As a Telecommunication Engineer, we know how to work with frequencies and to modulate them (upconvert or downconvert) to make the sound audible for a hearing-impaired person.
The objectives of our project are:
The steps for implementation of our project are stated below:
The main benefits of the project are an effective hearing aid with user-friendly operation and insect repellent for protection.
Other than these, the project also fulfills some Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as set by the United Nations. These SDGs are mentioned below:
