Smart asthma inhaler
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryDigipuff(smart inhaler) is an inhaler that connects with a mobile app via Bluetooth using Bluetooth sensor and our device has much more sensor with it like air quality sensor, GPS sensor etc.
Our Digipuff inhaler tells our mobile app that how, when and where patient use the device Our mobile application reminds the patient about his/her dosage according to the scheduled time through notifications and also through inhaler device by glowing its led and alert the patient of missing dosage.
On the other hand doctor also monitors the patient usage so that he/she gives a feedback to their patients and also predicts the attack
Project Objectives•Correct usage of dose
•Refill stock on time
•Adhere to medication
•Taking dosage on time
•To aware pateints of their condition
•To help doctors what triggers the asthma attack
Project Implementation MethodSmart inhalers will detect inhaler use and send that information and data to app. Our smart inhaler will contain sensors; given below
- Bluetooth sensor
- Air quality sensor
- GPS location sensor
- Actuated sensor
This will be Bluetooth-enabled, so can be paired wirelessly with smart device like phone, tablet etc. to allow data to be transferred from inhaler to database cloud. Air quality sensor and GPS location sensor will work together , GPS location sensor will check the location of a person/patient and air quality sensor will check the atmosphere of that location. And the actuated sensor will count the dose .Basically the count of pushed button and it will be display on app.
Benefits of the Project- Our digipuff reminds the patient of dosage on scheduled time
- It shows remaining puffs so that patient knows when to refill
- Also alerts the missing dose
- It tell patient how much dosage the patient have to take at one time
- And doctors also predict attacks and pick the solution by analyzing usage of his/her patient
- A database has to be created to keep track, the complete history of the medications given to the asthma patients.
- Remind patient when to take their dose.
- Smart inhaler will give the signal that patient is overusing the medicine, suggesting poorly controlled asthma.
- Smart inhaler contains actuated sensor which record every time a patient uses their inhaler.
- Patient can receive reminders may be in audio or in text form about inhaler use via mobile app which is Bluetooth-connected.
- Doctor who is the part of app can track inhaler use and guide patient to use correctly, and if patient forget to take the dose , doctor will guide patient with personalized feedback.
- Allow patient and doctor to track the patient condition and monitor the efficacy of treatment in individual patient over time.
