Air pollution is one of the major problem all around the world. This problem appears without-most strength after industrial revolution. Air Pollution is increasing day to day which deeply affect human lives. Recently, the corona virus is also directly impact with air pollution. Further, the air pollution causes different disease such as asthma, bronchitis, skin and respiratory disorders. Therefore, it is a need to design a model that keep the air clean and provide sufficient information about the level of impurity in the environment. Internet of things (IoT) provide an innovative solution for the detection of air pollution. Currently some minor scales implementations of this problem are already implemented such as:[1-3] .There are few limitations in the existing models. Some of these projects only concern on Air Quality monitoring and few of these projects concern only a few gases detection. Due to these limitations we are focusing to develop more advance and smart Air Pollution Monitoring system through IOT for Smart Cities. The proposed system will work as hybrid system which can detect simultaneously gases, temperature, humidity etc, in the environment. Also, the proposed system will be aligned with smart cities model. Having such gadget will be installed in different locations at the cities to monitoring the air pollution of the city.
Proposed Solution of the Problem:
Our project proposes a smart system that can keep the subject aware about air pollution. Further, provide awareness to the human during critical situations like gas leakage, temperature and humidity increasing/decreasing, and keep inform us from the concentration of different gasses through Android App. The proposed project having title The Air Pollution Monitoring System through Internet of Things for Smart Cities. In this project we will make an IOT base smart device which can detect air pollution with the help of different sensors like MQ2, MQ4, MQ7 and MQ135.After sensing Air pollution sensor device will send this data through raspberry-pi to the cloud. The cloud based monitoring will send response message to user by Android App. Our device will be capable to detect different gasses like LPG, CO2, Air quality, Methane, Butane, Smoke, Carbon Monoxide and Natural gas. This device will be capable to measure the humidity and temperature as well. This smart device will help us to save human beings from different hazardous situation.

Air is a very important factor for humans. Air pollution means presence of high concentrations of harmful gases such as dust, smoke. According to the WHO (world health association) 1.5 million human passing every year due to air pollution. Internet of things (IoT) brings a new revolution in lives of human beings. This Technology become the integrated part of human life. IoT provide facilitation to resolve everyday problems in smart and efficient way. IoT provide facilitation to monitor air pollution as well to make sure the protection of humans from the dangerous effects of different gases and other hazardous environmental changes. Our project is an IoT based intelligent system. In this project we will make an IOT base smart device. which will detect Air pollution which cause different diseases as well as life threats. This smart device will consist of different sensors like DHT 11 used for Temperature and Humidity sensor, MQ-2 used for Smoke/ LPG/ CO used for Gas sensor, M135 Air quality sensor module and MQ 7 sensor which will detect different gases present in our environment. Firstly, we will connect these sensors to ESP32. After making connection we will configure these sensors with Arduino IDE/ Micro python according to our requirements. After successful configuration we will try to make connection with Raspberry-pi to make wireless data exchange connection between the wi-fi modules present in both Raspberry-pi and ESP32. As the wi-fi module receive data from smart device it will store this data in his memory. The Raspberry-pi will send this data result to your phone using and Android application in case of life threat or any other dangerous conditions. There will be a small emergency buzzer connect with device which will help in unpleasant situation for rescue.
This smart device will detect different types of gasses like, Co2, carbon monoxide, LPG, Methane. This smart device can sense temperature and humidity which will help us to maintain temperature according to our needs.
Implementation steps:
We will make this smart device in three basic steps. In the first step we will configure sensors with ESP32 on brad board with the help of jumpers. After successful connection of sensors with ESP32 we will check the sensors data for this purpose we will connect ESP32 to our PC with the help of data cable to check the accuracy of the sensor device. We can use pix LED also as a data receiving object.
In the second step we will connect our smart device to Raspberry pi to send the sensors data from ESP32 to Raspberry pi through Wi-fi devices. Raspberry-pi will store this data in his primary memory which we use for further analysis.
In the third and last step of our project we will try to make a web application to receive data from raspberry-pi to PC or mobile phone to update 7/24.
