Shred :The plastic Machine
Shred is a smart bottle crushing plant/machine which is user-friendly as well as portable. the project was started, keeping in mind the growing issue of plastic pollution and awareness regarding it. product helps people to recycle their plastic (specifically Plastic bottle) where they can put their bottles in the machine either voluntarily, or an option of discount vouchers etc could be added. Output: "Crushed polymer", is then collected in tray of which the owner get notified by the machine when full.
it is the size of an average sized vending machine equipped with sensors, cameras, modules and circuits for interface, security, communication and sorting. the process for User is quiet simple.
Process: User is supposed to enter bottle in the given hole of the machine, machine detects if the bottle is of plastic and the thing entered is bottle. if all the desired/programmed conditions are met, machine passes it to the crusher which then proceeded towards the tray which collects the polymer. if the substance entered is not a bottle, or of conductive material, or is not empty, or of glass. in that case the machine exits the bottle out of the machine.
How Smart? :in this project; image processing is used for bottle detection, two controllers: Raspberry pi and ATMega is used for Image processing and sensors' signal processing respectively. two different systems are used in order to isolate two different tasks and also to distribute tasks: which will be effective for future modifications.
Conclusion: The project gives citizens a place to put their plastic bottles where they are sure that it will be crushed and later recycled and will be handled correctly. over discount vouchers, deals and prizes it will further motivate people to bring their plastic bottles to machine rather then to any garbage bin where no one is sure how it will be handled later.
Also with this, not only country but companies which requires plastic polymers will get benefit. they can get their polymer from specific spots collected by the machine. security features and further modifications can be done upon sponsership which will make this product be the first and smartest in Pakistan.
as follows:
1. To make a machine which provides the solution to citizens about taking care of their plastic bottle waste.
2. To make a machine which can distinguish between a plastic bottle and everything else.
3. To make a user-friendly interface.
4. To make machine portable.
5. To come up with such security features which can prevent machine from any undesirable actoins done being in the public place.
6. To implement image processing (which can further modified with machine learning) with the process.

Implementation of Objectives:
Interface:
for a better and user-friendly interface, LCD is used for ads, "how to use" tutorials and motivational stats and videos. which is achieved by Raspberry pi.
SMS controlling and status notifications are acheived by Modules.
Image Processing:
tensor flow is used for image processing with 1 fps, which is achieved by Raspberry pi.
Material distinction:
Machine is smart because of its ability to distinguish between different scenarios. presence of bottle, detection of material, making path towards either crusher or exit is done by proximity sensors, inductive and load cells and servo motors. Image processing is interfaced in the process to ensure the presence of bottle rather then any other plastic substance.
1. A portable Plastic crushing machine which can be an ultimate solution for citizens to get their plastic bottles recycled and for the crushed polymer seekers to get their polymer at specific spots collected by machine.
2. A solution against Plastic waste.
3. Resistance for Plastic burning and mishandling.
4. Being the first in Pakistan.
Power consumption:
a total of 800W machine when crushing, (crusher only operates/starts when the bottle is passed by the system to proceed towards crusher), less then 100W in stand-by mode.
