Semi Autonomous Multitasking Rover
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryIn this project, we propose to develop a model of semi-autonomous multitasking rover to perform different task based on given command. The proposed model is semi-autonomous as it needs some initial command and then works autonomously. It can perform the following tasks:
Can detect and recognize the face of people
Can recognize the speech to get voice commands
Can explore new surfaces
Can be used as mini RADAR
Can follow a person or specific moving object
Can find his charging station by GPS positioning
We will use Raspberry Pi 3 as main controller. We use Machine learning and Deep learning algorithms to recognize the face and speech. Arduino will collect the data from sensors and feed it to Raspberry Pi. The camera is also integrated with Raspberry Pi for face detection and visualization of objects. The processed data is then fed to Arduino which controls the servo motors attached with wheels.
These systems are integrated with each other to work efficiently.
Project ObjectivesTo detect and recognize the face
To recognize the speech
To explore the new surfaces and check the humidity of soil as well as soil erosion
To follow a specific object or human
To work as a mini RADAR
Project Implementation MethodThe implementation will start with the study of the hardware components. The algorithms for facial recognition and speech recognition will be developed and tested on sample images and voices. Other codes for Arduino to drive motors of the rover will be tested. The circuit will be designed in software then etched. The hardware components will be soldered on the boards and codes will be burned in Arduino and other components. Finally, the rover will be tested for every task and possible errors will be eliminated.
Benefits of the ProjectThis project can be used for security purposes as it can recognize the face as well as speech. It can be used as a surveillance robot in remote and dangerous areas.
This project can also be used for agriculture purposes as it can explore the surface and checks the soil humidity and fertility.
Moreover, the robot can also be used as a mini RADAR for mapping the surroundings. This robot will also have the capability to go to the charging station when the power is below a certain level using GPS positioning.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe final deliverable of this work will be a semi-autonomous multitasking rover which will perform different tasks according to the given instructions. It will perform different tasks like face and speech recognition. A camera will be mounted on the top of the rover to visualize the objects and surroundings. The proposed rover will have the capability to follow a specific moving object or a person using proximity sensors. It will also find his charging station using the GPS positioning system when the power is lowered than a specific point.
