As we know the arms of crime rate are increasing in our city and now reaching even further to our gated communities which were supposed to be safe and secure in all aspects. To cope up this issue we have found a solution as a Gated Community Security System which will be able to secure our communities from unwanted intruders and breachers.

The system will be comprised of smart digital entries replacing old fashioned manual entries of residents and visitors. The system will also be able to maintain a record of staff members. Features like two-factor authentication, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and QR code scanning on entrance for residents and visitors respectively will make the system reliable and guarded.

Project Objectives

Efficient Visitor Access to Gated Communities:
One of the major objectives of this project is the hassle-free entry of visitors. Usually in gated communities, entry for visitors is not as efficient and fast as it is supposed to be. Residents may have to call Control Room to tell the details of their guests and that Control Room passes that information to the Guard Check post and then the visitor must go through all the boring and tedious process of verification. Now this is where our security system comes in, using our system the resident will just open the application (Mobile / Web) for his community, enters details of his guest and BOOM problem solved.

Now the guest will come, scans the QR Code or enters a unique Token Number which he received by the resident through our application and he will be verified to enter the community premises.

Resident Access Control:
Using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), each resident will have a unique identity (RFID Tag) have ease of access to pass through the entrance without being engaged with the guard. After identification, the resident will be allowed to enter the premises with a green signal.

Reduce Crime Rate:
When there will be a verified entrance for residents and visitors, an unwanted person will not be able to breach in the community and get caught red-handed, ultimately it will help to reduce the crime rate.

Hassle Free Entry for Labour:
Entry for labour, maids and other staff has always been a problem for gated communities. Most of the staff must submit their National Identity during check-ins and they have to collect them when they leave. This problem can be solved by using the RFID Technology where labour will be given an RFID tag which they use to identify themselves during check-ins.

Project Implementation Method

The project consists of the following modules:

  1. User Authentication & Authorization (Admin, Resident or Staff)
  2. Guest Entry Requests (by QR Code / Token No)
  3. Notifications Module
  4. Admin Panel with roles
  5. Staff Attendance
  6. Staff Payroll
  7. RFID Module Integration with our System
  8. Resident Phone Application
  9. Community Alerts (managed by Admins)
  10. SMS Alerts

The project will be implemented in the following steps:

  1. UI of the Application
  2. Integration with the Back-end resources.
  3. Features will be added step-by-step just (Entry Requests, Notifications etc.)
  4. Staff Functionality
  5. Interfacing our Application with RFID modules and other hardware.

Benefits of the Project

Integrating NADRA with our System: (For visitors only)
Our system can be integrated with NADRA. We will make a fake REST API that will take Visitor's NIC number as input spits out his details like Name, Address and other information. This feature will help us make entries for those visitors who just want to visit the community for exploring the community.

The visitor will tell his NIC number to the guard, the guard then enters his NIC number to our system that will fetch his details from the NADRA API. In this way, authentic entries for visitors can be created.

Efficient Record Keeping of Entries:
Manual entries in registers help only to make wastepapers. Using digital entries we'll have all records kept safe in a database. This will allow us to get any record of each individual on a single click with a friendly user interface.

Approve your Guests from anywhere around the World:
Using our Application, the residents would be able to make entries for their guests from anywhere around the World via our Application.

Handling Unexpected Guest:
We all receive unexpected guests at our door. Making entry for them is made easy through our system where the resident will receive a notification in their app, requesting them to approve their guest entry. Once they approve the guest will be allowed to enter.

Staff Management:
From daily attendance, in and out timings, overtime, shifts, payroll to allowances everything will be monitored and maintained through this app and reports will be generated and sent to the admin authorities.

Announcements for Residents:
The admins can create an announcement for residents. Once an announcement is created all the residents of the community will receive a notification in their app notifying them about the announcement.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The technologies required for making this system includes React, React Native, NodeJS and MongoDB. Plus, other side technologies related with hardware will also be used.

The final deliverable will be a Hybrid Application (composed of all features explained) compatible with (Android / iOS / Web)

A prototype of the whole system can be implemented in our Society.
