Robotic Arm
Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryOur project mainly deals around the shearing operation, were the sheet is picked manually and placed on the belt for shearing which involves risk factor. Our challenge is designing of pick and place operator to carry the sheet from the stack and place it in the shearing machine for the feeding
Project ObjectivesDesigning, Modelling, and Simulation of the pick and place mechanism. We need to have a time study between currently undergoing a manual operation and a newly designed automated operation.
The frequency of this operator, its repeatability, lifetime, etc. is to be found out.
The choice of the end effector, its design, and analysis should be carried out and documented.
Project Implementation MethodThe basic idea of this project is the implementation of the robotic arm. Though it can be implemented in various methods, when different parameters are taken into consideration this model is the most feasible way of implementation. Another way of enactment the model is by enabling them to adapt to their surroundings.
Benefits of the Project- Improved safety. Robotic arms help keep workers safe by operating in environments that are hazardous and executing tasks that present high risk of injury to humans.
- Improved efficiency and productivity.
- Enhanced precision
- Greater flexibility.
The main reason to make the choice of designing a robotic arm firstly is the transport of the sheet from the stack to the shearing machine. Second, there is a space constraint we have in the industry. The stack of the sheets and the shearing machine are close to each other. They are so close that any other kind of transport such as a linear robot (conveyor) cannot be used. That leaves us with the only choice to build a robotic arm that can work in small and congested environments.
