Project Summary

There has been tremendous growth in the number of vehicles on road in past few years. But there is no proper system of parking. This has created a huge parking and traffic crisis, especially in urban areas. At such times smart online parking systems are the need of the hour. This system aims at replacing the conventional parking system with an IoT-based smart parking system by using RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification). The administration will be provided with an android based mobile application, using which they can know about the availability of the parking slot on their mobile phones. In this way, this smart parking system will help reduce human effort & time taken in finding parking slots.

Project Objectives

Reduction of time wastage in finding slots.

Low-cost System.

A real-time application that allows users to check

available/unavailable parking slots.

Automatic billing.

Optimizing space.

Provides security to a vehicle and an unauthorized user is not allowed to enter a parking place.

Project Implementation Method

The administration first checks the availability of parking slots online.

The microcontroller reads the sensor values of parking slots and then transfers this information online over ESP 32 to the app provided to the administration.

The RFID scanner is used to scan for the user cards and transmit the data to the microcontroller, the

microcontroller transmits the data over the ESP 32 server to check if the card is valid and if it holds

sufficient balance, it will be allowed to park.

If the card is invalid or doesn’t hold sufficient balance, the entry to the vehicle is

denied.

If the card holds sufficient balance, then it will be allowed to enter and at that moment the sensor which detects the car indicates which slot the car is parked in.

IR sensors

Led lights

Lcd's

ESP32 is a series of low-cost, low-power systems on a chip microcontroller with integrated Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth.

RFID cards are used for applications where tracking or identifying personnel is important or where access control is required.

The RFID reader is a network-connected device that can be portable or permanently attached. It uses radio waves to transmit signals that activate the tag. Once activated, the tag sends a wave back to the antenna, where it is translated into data.

A servo motor is a rotary actuator that allows for precise control of the angular position.

A buzzer or beeper is an audio signalling device.

An infrared sensor (IR sensor) is a radiation-sensitive optoelectronic component with spectral sensitivity in the infrared wavelength range 780 nm … 50 µm.
