Project Summary

‘Investigation of blood cancer in down syndrome patients’ is a solution that can be helpful for patients of Down syndrome and doctors. On the basis of our research and analysis on data related to such patients will provide awareness to the patients. Patients with Down syndrome contain an extra copy of chromosome 21 which can cause many diseases. Due to this extra copy of chromosome 21 such patients cannot behave like a normal person. They may have some additional functionalities, our task is to remove those functionalities by blocking some of the proteins that causes such additional functionalities. So, the patients can be prevented from blood cancer. The intended users of our project are: doctors (will provide medication to the patients) and patients (who can take benefit from medication). The purpose of this solution is to help people by providing the identified drugs in our analysis with tools. Finally, we will write reseach paper on it.

Project Objectives

In recent years, Down syndrome has become more common, and children with Down syndrome are living longer and this can be very painful for children and their parents as well. Between 1979 and 2003, the number of babies born with Down syndrome increased by about 30%. These patients have more chances of blood cancer. This has been often ignored by researchers so far there has been no research which has investigated the reasons behind the higher number of blood cancer in people having Down syndrome. We would like to investigate the study behind the Down syndrome patients especially the increasing rate of blood cancer in such patients. The main objective for doing this project was primarily an interest in undertaking a challenging project in an interesting area of research which can help children facing many difficulties than a normal child.

• We are analyzing the Down syndrome data therefore the prediction can be helpful for doctors and for people having down syndrome.
• So far we have searched; there is no existing research on Down syndrome patients having blood cancer.
• On the basis of our research lives of many people can be saved by early diagnosis of blood cancer with Down syndrome patients.
• In our project, we will be focusing on the increasing rate of blood cancers in the patients of Down syndrome so that early diagnosis can be made possible.
• Our introduced drugs can be helpful for such patients.
• So far we have searched; there is no existing research on Down syndrome patients having blood cancer.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The technoloygy we are using in our project is bioinformatics. In our project, we are dealing with proteins in Down syndrome patients. These patients have some extra functionalities due to extra copy of chromosome 21 and our main task is to inhibit those additional functionalities. It can be possible by blocking those extra proteins. For tis purpose, we used some tools which can inhibit those proteins. 

So, in our final deliverable we will be introducing drug which can inhibit the additional functionalities in Down syndrome patients further more will be writing our reseach paper on it for further awareness.
