Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryAs Pakistan is agriculture based country, so progressive and development in agriculture is the basic need for economy of this country. This project will help to protect and increase in the product of agriculture crops. To protect the crops from insect and for good growth we need fertilizers and pesticides to spray on them. This project will great help to reduce harmful effects of pesticides on human being and also save time. By World Health Organization (WHO) survey, 3 million or more people effected harmfully by pesticides spray. To spread this technology in backward area of this country, and make introduce this emerging technology with people.
Project Objectives- This is autonomous spray which does not involve human, and just drone stability is controlled manually by human .
- It would be less expensive, easy to design, easy to handle, even farmer can work with this.
- This drone will spray exactly on that place where green grass is exist, by that process the huge amount of spray can be saved from wasting, and properly spray would be done on right place properly.
- Reduce disease effect on people.
- Reduce the time for spraying pesticide on crops.
- Cost effective
- Spread this technology in backward areas.
- Increase the product of agriculture crops.
- Save the wastage of pesticides.
The Drone Based Aerial Pesticide Sprayer mainly consists of two parts. The Quadcopter and the Spraying Mechanism.
- Quadcopter Drone: The Quadcopter is simple design with four motors, proplers with flight control ( Pixhawk). The flight controller is the main part of this project all the operations are commanded by this controller. The four proplers to create differential thrust and quad copter hover and move accordance with speed of motors.
- The stability “Throttle, Yaw, Roll, Pitch” is controlled by RC transmitter manually, after the proper flight spray mechanism is on through the Tx/Rx by switch.
- The total approximately mass to uplift is 2kg means the total up thrust force produce by motors should be 4kg.
- Spray Mechanism:
Spray mechanism is consist of Raspberry Pi, which command following functions:
(i) Tank status: The tank status will be monitored using water level sensor, if pesticides goes below the threshold level it can be notified to operator by sending a signal to the arduino which turn on the buzzer.
(ii) Pump ON/OFF Control: Multispectral camera used to captured image by using image processing if there is a green colored crops it will give signal to Raspberry Pi, and it will command the motor to turn on the pump, but if there is a other than green color the Raspberry pi give the command the motor to turn off pump automatically.
Benefits of the ProjectBy successful implementation of this project Spray of pesticides can be achieved. As
spray at low altitude the pollution can be reduced. This can save the people from diseases
caused when spray manually.
