The prepaid energy meter with theft detection system mainly works fpr detecting internal as awell as external energy theft.

Internal energy theft occurs after the energy reaches to the energy meter.

External energy theft occurs before the energy reaches to the energy meter.

When the exterrnal or internal theft occur in the system the immediately inform authority or user with message also system will able to send message when prepaib balnce is zero or low.

Project Objectives

One popular theft detection method, implementedin most meter data mangement systems(MDMS), is to estimate the amount of total losses as described above, by performing energy balnce bwtween the energy supplied by the DT and the energy consumed by all metered users, and calculate the loss rate as a percentage.

Project Implementation Method

The project presents a robust system will allow the consumer to use electricity by making payment in prepaid manner, just like the recharge of a mobile SIM is carried out. The user can recharge his/her system account by sending a simple SMS to the system. This SMS recharges the user's account. The system also senmds alerts to the user in case of low balance in the system to remind the user to recharge . The system cuts off the power supply when the balnce of the system falls to zero based upon calculation of the amount of electricity being consumed by the load. 

Benefits of the Project

The main advantage of this project is its low cost solution for prepaid metering of electricity usage and also stops theft of electricity at hjousehold level. The facility of tamper detection stops any intrusions by the user into the electricity meter to alter or stop the calculation of units being consumed.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The system works for theft detctionand also allows user to use bprepaid energy meter functionality.

Using this functionality user will able to pay in advance and use exact amount of energy.

 The system starts with GSM modem connection and first configures the user number  and gives authority to that number.

The system is made up of AVR Microcontroller, current sensors, GSM Modem, LCD display, energy meter and loads.
