Sensors integrated into the irrigation system help to schedule water supply and distribution more efficiently. Tensiometer and watermarks were less responsive for soil drying during irrigation.

Project Objectives

Soil Moisture sensor measure or estimate the amount of water in the soil. These sensors can be stationary or portables such as handheld. Stationary sensor can be placed at the predetermined locations and depth in the field whereas portable soil moisture probes can measure the soil moisture at several locations. The main purpose of this project is to design an automatic watering device by sensing the soil conditions.

Project Implementation Method

Implementation of Soil Moisture sensor based automatic irrigation in woody ornamental production.This project is very useful for farmers as it tells the details of the moisture level in the soil.

Benefits of the Project

The plant Monitoring System is helpful for watering the plant and to monitor few parameters for growth of plants. Yhis system is used in few areas like nursery farm and in agriculture. Measuring Soil quality provides an early warning of the potential effects different primary use activities may be having on long-term soil quality.
