Project Summary

As partial fulfillment of the Final Year Project, the main aim of this project is to develop an accurate, reliable, and efficient platform for animal adoption. This platform is based on software and a database to solve the problem that occurs for the public who want to adopt animals. The current product of the animal adoption platform offers a minimal, nonflexible, and non-updated resources platform. With an awareness of people regarding stray animals being abused, this kind of animal platform has gained interest. Each pet requires special care and attention which is fulfilled in the organization. The application provides the user to adopt a pet, volunteer for the pet, and purchase products that are related to pets. The user of the application can work towards a pet as a volunteer and also, he/she can adopt the pet from the application. The application contains pets related products such as food, grooming products, etc. for purchase. The purchase of products is done using credit cards, debit cards, or cash on delivery. The application also provides guidelines to the user regarding the health care of pets, how the pets need to be nurtured, and how they have to be taken care of after being adopted. The application tries to provide all the facilities and guidelines that are required for caring for and nurturing pets The implementation is achieved using a combination of hardware and software development.

Project Objectives

A platform for animal rescue has been widely used in this country and other countries. It offers significant benefits for individuals, Non-Government Organizations, and also the government but there is still a problem that needs to be solved in order to propose a better system. Therefore a platform being created for animal adoption and surrender is proposed to achieve these objectives:
a) To develop a platform for animal adoption and surrendering.
b) To develop a user-friendly animal adoption platform.
The scope of the study is:
a) To study the current situation of animal adoption and surrender.
b) To study the latest web design technology for animal adoption.

Project Implementation Method

The Incremental model is perfect for this project. This system will develop module-wise, first, it has to define its users and then their integration with other users as well as with admin. First, it has to develop simple users to check whether the requirements of our project proposal are meeting with this project or not then we will develop the client-side module to integrate the work to hire and purchase demanded work. And transactional module will integrate after these two modules to get paid by the client and get payments from client-side users. In the end, the admin module will be developed to monitories and check the work of users.

Benefits of the Project

  • Users will be facilitated to get help with a single click on the button. They adopt and donate button will show the pets ready for adoption.
  • The user will get the location and contact of the nearest doctor.
  • The doctor’s profile will be available, so users can access them according to the doctor's specialty.
  • Safety tips and awareness documents along with emergency helplines will be provided. So, the user will be aware of each thing regarding security.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

In the completion of this project, the main methodology used is the Rapid Application Development method (RAD). This methodology approaches software development in order to put less emphasis on planning tasks and more on development. Different from the waterfall model, RAD approaches emphasize the necessity of adjusting requirements in reaction to knowledge gained ad the project progresses. It also emphasizes a flexible process that can adapt as the project evolves rather than defining specifications rigorously and planning correctly from start. RAD is said to be suited for developing software that is driven by user interface requirements.

In order to develop this website, Bootstrap is used as the front-end framework. Bootstraps is an open-source collection of tools for creating websites and web applications. The aim of Bootstraps is to ease the development of dynamic websites and web applications. Moreover, it also contains HTML and CSS-based templates for forms, buttons, navigation, typography, and other interface components. Not only that, but it also contains a JavaScript extension. Bootstraps is easy to use as it is compatible with the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer (IE), Opera, and Safari browser.
