Person re-identification (ReID), identifying a person of interest at other time or place, is a challenging task in computer vision. Its applications range from tracking people across cameras to searching for them in a large gallery, from grouping photos in a photo album to visitor analysis in a retail store. Like many visual recognition problems, variations in pose, viewpoints illumination, and occlusion make this problem a challenging task.
Project Objectives
To develop a product which allows user to upload multiple CCTV footages to find the instant when the specified query person appears in a particular CCTV footage.
Project Implementation Method
Aligned ReId (Person Re-Id's approach) would be used to re-Identify a person and the evaluation criteria would be mAP. Aligned ReId would require the images to be fed in with bounding box so in order to extract the bounding pox of person from an input image/video, YOLOv3 will be used as an input to “Aligned ReId”.
Benefits of the Project
It can be used by security professionals to find a person (criminal) from all the CCTV footage of the city so that the track map of that person can be found. This task, if done by a human operator would take a lot of time.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable
The end product would be a portal that would enable the end-users (security officials) to upload multiple CCTV footages and a query person that would be sent to the server using Flask for extracting persons from the videos using YOLOv3 and applying Person-ReId to find top 10 matching persons from the videos. The output of the model would again be sent to the portal and would be displayed there along with the time instant and video id.
