Aim of the project is to develop a portable solar power generating system. Mobile Solar Power System (MSPS) is a new concept in our country. Research should be done to make a portable, cost effective and efficient MSPS. As Pakistan is located north to equator, receive large and constant amount of solar energy during daytime. Utilizing this energy will is the best way to produce electricity. The development of Mobile Solar Power System (MSPS) is for this purpose. In our project, we have conducted a study on MSPS to have a clearer picture of the condition and parameters to build the best MSPS. Sun tracking and system sizing is required for a good design of MSPS. Comparison for the type of PV modules is also been conducted. To make sure MSPS utilizes the best type of PV module. The portability of the MSPS is the key point in the project. To ensure the maximum usage of MSPS the MSPS should be portable. A portable solar generator/system can solve the problem as it can replace the environmentally unfriendly petrol and diesel. The main aim of this work is to design and construct a portable solar generator capable of satisfying the load requirements for average consuming home. The peak demand was chosen as the target.
Main objective of the project is to produce a mobile PV system. Portability of system is important to use for outdoor or indoor activities or the places where there is shortage of power supply. Also system can be used for residents. Low cost system is also a key factor in the designing of the project to make it affordable. Also MSPS will give us the experience and make us more competent. The overall objectives of the project can be summarized as:
• To design a portable system, can be carried anywhere, anytime.
• To design a sun-tracking system for mobile solar electricity generating system
• To incorporate the PV panel opening and closing mechanism in the design of a portable solar generating system
Planning, research, analysis, design and implementation are the five phases for the completion of the project. Most important part of the methodology is planning. Timeline to complete the project is determine by planning. As the planning phase will ensure that all the work is done on time.In the research phase literature review is to be done regarding all the necessary information. This consist of collecting all the information, PV modules, opening closing mechanism, system mobility, and solar geometry. Next, phase is analysis phase in which involve theoretical analysis. In which dimension of mechanism, size and load calculation is calculated. In the design phase the prototype and its components design is to be done. Last phase is the fabrication of prototype model. In this phase test of prototype will be done to make sure the project has the required output.
Benefits of the Project are
Mobile Solar Power System (MSPS) will consit of scissor mechanism for opening and closing of PV panels, mounted on a single pole to provide sun tracking or cantained in small container for easy transportation and trolley for the easy mobility of the MSPS. Design of MSPS on software along with all the calculation for the project. Fabrication and testing of the MSPS. Examining all the aspects of project which will make a MSPS best source of electricity in the field of mobile electricity generating unit.
