Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryIn our project we use renewable energy system in which solar power tower is applied to generate the electricity. The demand of electricity increase day to day and reducing the non-renewable sources of power generation. In power tower concentrating solar power systems, a large number of flat, sun-tracking mirrors, known as heliostats, focus sunlight onto a receiver at the top of a tall tower. A heat-transfer fluid heated in the receiver is used to heat a working fluid, which, in turn, is used in a conventional turbine generator to produce electricity. we will use water stream as a source for power towers as the heat-transfer fluid.
Project ObjectivesThe project will accomplish the following main objectives.
- Prefers the use of renewable energy because its reservoir are not depleting.
- It does not have any problem of pollution.
- Improving efficiency.
- Saving electricity of on-grid by using solar power tower and wind turbine.
- Renewable energy is cheaper than other power plants because it has not fuel cost.
- In areas where there are not other power plants people can be provided cheap electricity by using renewable energy.
- It is green energy and environmental friendly
Solar power tower is advance technology, the solar power tower concentrate the sun light at focal point with the help of heliostat that reflect the sun light and collect the reflected light at focal point and increase the temperature we use mirror pieces as heliostat for the reflection of light the advantages of heliostat field collector are that collect solar energy optically and transfer it to the central receiver why reducing heat transport requirement have a very high concentration ratio which makes them very efficient at collecting soar light intensity and converting it into heat for which we use water as a medium to be absorbed. The water contain in a vessel which obsorbs the heat that increase the temperature of water. When the temperature of water reached at 100 centigrade it will convert liquid inj to steam. The steam produced is use to drive steam generator, the steam strike on the shaft of generator due to the kinetic energy the shaft start moving. The shaft is coupled with generator , which move generator and generator produce the electricity. The steam pressure depend upon the size of generator for large steam turbine needs much higher pressure of steam.
In areas where there are no other sources of power generation, power can be generated by using solar power towers. The sun is a free source and it can be used to generate large scale power. People can be provided electricity and reduce its negative impact on the environment and its operatinal cost.

A solar power tower is a system that convert energy from sun into to electricity that can be used by using solar setup. The setup includes heliostat absorber steam turbine and a container or vessel for steam heliostat are devices that consists one or more mirrors which can be individually controlled and moved in the order to keep reflecting sun light direct toward central receiver. The Heliostats are use to focus sunlight along a fixed direction. The absorber are used to absorb the maximum sun light and convert it into heat. The heat is use to convert water into steam, this steam will run the turbine and generate electricity.
