Project Summary

In mountain area including other disasters such as earth quack, flood, forest fire etc land sliding is also a major issue and risk of human life. A landslide is defined as the movement of a mass of rock, debris, or earth down a slope. Landslides are a type of "mass wasting," which denotes any down-slope movement of soil and rock under the direct influence of gravity. The term "landslide" encompasses five modes of slope movement: falls, topples, slides, spreads, and flows. Landslides can be initiated in slopes already on the verge of movement by rainfall, snowmelt, changes in water level, stream erosion, changes in ground water, earthquakes, volcanic activity, disturbance by human activities, or any combination of these factors. It is a natural calamity which can devasting effects that can lead to multiple deaths and loss of property.

The land sliding monitoring is of substantial importance in reducing the catastrophic effects of landslides. This harm cannot be prevented but by care full planning and emergency steps of spreading alert we can often reduce the consequences of these disaster recent technological advances in electronics and communication made new trend in monitoring system.

In this project a landslides detection and alert system for mountain areas will be design using IoT technologies. This system specifically focuses on  detection of land sliding by using weight  sensor and set the threshold value via a sensor when threshold value exceed  it generates alert signals when value crosses the threshold value provided to sensors alert message is a text message  and android application notification services to the concerned authorities through their mobile phone it also include public address (PA) system to broadcast the message to local people nearby the places Or we also proposed the GPS system it trace the location where this incidence has been occurred or the live video streaming also have include in this system this system can be used as a primary precaution action to save many lives   

Project Objectives

Objectives:

  •        To develop an IoT based system which can monitor the land sliding

  •  generate alerts/warning for the surroundings and emergency response

               center.

  •   To design an android based system including sensors to detect the landslides
  •   Geo-Location System to find the position/ area of land slides
  • Messaging services for people and emergency response center

Project Implementation Method

Project Implementation Method:

The project will be based on Arduino hardware and software solution. The suitable Arduino board for this project is consists of GSM GPS sensors I.O.T and wifi module  The sensors are main part of the project which detect the land sliding information and send to the central location. In this project the followings sensors will be used for detection.

1) weight sensor

2) vibration sensor

Benefits of the Project

Landslide is one of the geological disasters which have been affecting the lives of people significantly every year landslides takes away a lot of lives and causes sincere damage to property and the people. In this project a system will be developed to which detect the landslide and generate alerts for surrounding area so the people should know about that and follow safety measures. and emergency steps should be taken immediatey 

another benifits of this project is that It performs real-time analysis of the region, based on the video stream acquired by the camera and applies computer vision algorithms to detect landslide and notify stackholders via android app
