Land mine detection is most crucial warfare to deploy armed vehicle in the enemy territory. These armed vehicle or main bttle tanks are used to follow the path of pilot tank operated manually to avoid damage/distraction of the battle tank and defence casuaities of defence crews. In adddition post warfare the mines plante during war can be detected and diffused by deploying a mine detection robot, which can save civilian life to avoid human casualities. This research work proposed to have a prototype model of land-mine detection robot (LDR).

Project Objectives

A land mine detection robot is needed to be designed to employ in peace support, operations and in the clearance of contaminated areas. For the safety of the operator, the robot is controlled with help of Android App using Bluetooth module. The robot has ultrasonic sensor fixed to it in order to locate and avoid the obstacles. The mine can be located wth help of latitude and the longitude from GPS sensor. The robot structure is made with a material that can resist blasts up to certain limit. The robot produces warning alert to the personnel nearby with the help of a buzzer that is mounted on the robot. The locomotion of robot is carried out by the DC motor.

Project Implementation Method

We design an application to control land mine robot in which arduino mega 2650 used as micro controller. And metal detector is used as instrument to find then mines. We use IR sensor to avoid the obstacles in its way We use servo motors to rotate the metal detector in al drections. We use C++ language to implement this project.

Benefits of the Project

Saving humman casualities. Can safely move over a minefield and detect mines. Rapidly clear a path through a minefield. Goal is to remove all of the landmines to a given depth and make the land safe for human use. 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We use transistors to regulate 5V and 3V DC output. We use IR sensors to detect the object. We use metal detectors to detect mines and we use Arduino Mega 2650 as a micro controller. We use bluetooth module to control the robot via Android Application.
