Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe name of the project is SMEHA ( Smart Management of Energy and Home Automation). The idea of this project is to develop a home automation product targeted for Pakistani society. SMEHA will be able to monitor and control the power consumption of the whole house/building based on feeded requirements and human presence. SMEHA aims to minimise the wastage of resources. The product may basically comprise of a central server, smart wall switches and other peripheral devices. Central server will have the capability of AI integration.
Project ObjectivesThe key objectives are as follows:
1) Developing a Home Automation System friendly to Pakistanis.
2) Energy Conservation of the whole house.
3) IOT based smart control of all the integrated devices.
4) To develop product end equipement.
Project Implementation MethodThe project implementation is mainly based on Embedded systems and Internet of Things.
The first step of our implementation method is to develop perfect hardware which includes:
- A central server with a User interface.
- Smart Wall switches integrated with smart sensors.
- Perfect power monitoring hardware.
- etc.
Then the required software implementations which may include:
- Sensing accurate power consumption of the house.
- A friendly User Interface on the Central server.
- Control of all the wall switches and other devices with the central server.
- IOT enabled control of the Central server (which may include voice-recognition control as well).
- Optimization algorithms (for energy conservation) integration.
SMEHA ( Smart Management of Energy and Home Automation) will aim to provide the following benefits:
- Accessible Smart Home Automation for the people.
- Minimise the wastage of Energy due to Human negligences and thus reducing the unneccesary surcharge in utility bills.
- Smart control of everything through one central server and a smartphone application.
- The product will have the capability of being a security system and being empowered with AI as well.
The details of Final deliverables are as follows:
- Central Server will consist of a single board computer, a LCD touch screen display, communication hardware and a finished body.
- Smart wall switch will consist of an embedded system connected with a microcontroller like esp32, friendly switches, relays, sensors to detect human presence (like thermal sensor and motion sensor) and again a nice body.
