IOT BASED SMART HOME ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITH ENERGY METER
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryAs we know that a lot of energy is wasted on a daily basis so this results in the increase in electricity bill at the end of the month. As the electricity unit is costly during the peak hours so we are developing a prototype that will automatically switch off the heavy loads during the peak hours n which the cost of electricity is high.
As our proposed system is for "SMART HOME" we also included a solar account. We basically make our system that it will automatically shift to the solar when the generation of the solar is available enough to meet the demand(load). So in this sense, our cost of electricity is reduced
Project ObjectivesTo learn and implement the IoT techniques for real-world problems.
To study different types of environmental sensors.
To get familiar with solar generation and how we can integrate it into our system.
Project Implementation MethodIn the first phase, we only perform the simulation after visiting the market with the selected components and tools. In the simulation, we totally create all the working scenarios of our system that it will face during it,s implementation on the hardware.
After the successful completion of the simulation, we will then implement our proposed system on the hardware and after implementation, we will perform testing and analysis on our proposed system.
Benefits of the ProjectNo waste of the electricity which results in the cost of electricity bill.
Effectively use solar generation.
Keep the heavy loads off during peak hours to reduce the electricity bill.
Additionally provides the user with the current status of wapda and solar sources currently working.
Provide users the power consumption, current, voltage, date, time, and estimated electricity bill.
Use electricity when and where it needed only.
Our system will automatically shift the main source of our house to the solar when the demand meets the solar generation. Whenever there is less demand and solar generation is enough then the excess generation is stored in the battery and this is a plus point to our system.
By prioritizing the sources we have also decreased the dependence on the wapda side and this will effectively reduce the electricity bill.
Furthermore, our user can also see the current situation of the whole system from any remote location with access to the internet and mobile/laptop. Our user can set the shifting threshold at which our sources shift.
