IOT Based Smart Agriculture System
Agriculture serves to be the major occupation in Pakistan which contributes to the maximum of our GDP. Issues concerning agriculture have been always hindering the development of the country. The only solution to this problem is smart agriculture by modernizing the current traditional methods of agriculture. Hence the project aims at making agriculture smart using automation and IoT technologies. It includes smart irrigation with smart control and intelligent decision making based on accurate real-time field data. The embedded system for automatic irrigation of an agriculture field offers a potential solution to support site-specific irrigation management that allows producers to maximize their productivity while saving the water. Thus, this system may help to increase yields and the quality of the crop by better management of soil moisture during critical plant growth stages.
Our aim is to design a smart agriculture system to increase production and decrease the total expenditure on crops. To achieve this aim our objectives are:
Internet Of Things:
In the field of agriculture, use of proper method of irrigation is important .This project is implemented by interfacing NodeMCU to various sensors and sending the real time data to the cloud using built in Wi-Fi module in nodemcu. The NodeMCU development board is a powerful solution to program microcontrollers and be part of the Internet of Things (IoT). The Internet of Things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects—“things”—that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet. These devices range from ordinary household objects to sophisticated industrial tools. With more than 7 billion connected IoT devices today, experts are expecting this number to grow to 10 billion by 2020 and 22 billion by 2025. The system consists of NodeMCU, temperature and humidity sensor, pH sensor, Light sensor, relay, and Water Pump.
The project is carried out using NodeMCU with the various sensors used in smart agriculture system. This smart system finds application in the agriculture field. In agriculture, this can be used to ensure the smart irrigation of the field, since we have the option of finding out the moisture level of soil in a particular area. This project reduces the manual efforts and time required while paying individual attention to controlling the water pump. The system requires less design and implementation costs. The farmer can make use of this system for controlling motors, checking the water level of the tank, moisture level of soil, rain prediction and temperature and humidity of soil. To save the farmer’s efforts time and water are the two important factors. So the system needs to designed to provide this ability efficiently using IoT.
