Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryOur project use a mobile app to monitor the hardware which is able to pour food to the pet, set timing for it if needed, and monitor the eating activities of a pet. The system is intelligent enough to pour food to the pet if it comes in the range of the system and also if the food is already there in the bowl, then the food will not be poured if the user commands.
Project ObjectivesAims and objectives of our proposed system are as under;
- It has a cover for bowl that closes and opens automatically. The presence of pet is detected by the raspberry pi camera and the cover is opened which enables only the pet to access the food.
- In this specific project, we set the feeder to start beeping from time to time. Once the pet comes closer to the device, the PIR sensor recognizes it and the servo is triggered.
- Automated pet feeder is basically a new technology for feeding pets explains that it will help the pet owner in taking care of every pet in the house even when he or she is not present.
- The device is created for helping pet owners as predetermined amounts of the food are dispensed when the user gives a common using an infrared remote control that is wireless. It is very significant for the owner to realize the diet of pets for ensuring their health,.In the system, there is a unique feature of refill alert which lets the owner know that the bowl is running empty.
- This system can be connected to a smart phone and the owner can easily watch the activity. Through the communication device, the time and quantity of food can be managed easily.
- This system established the study of Internet of Things and Computer vision (for making our system intelligent) and also suggested its use for smart feed systems for pets.
- User is able to pour a selected amount of food on a single click or even can set a timer to it.
- User can live stream through the camera to know the activities of the pet.
- User can get the notification if food container is running out of food.
- User can view the eatingt routine of the pet i.e. how much it has eaten in a day.
People in Pakistan are becoming more interested in petting cats and dogs. Even I’m from a village and there’re handsome amount of people who have cats and dogs as pets in their houses including my own house. But maybe in foreign countries its common to carry your pets around unlike Pakistan. In Pakistan, people don’t usually bring pets outside much. Even if they are supposed to go outside, people leave pets behind in their houses. But here comes a question what if you’re out for a day long or maybe including night also. How will you feed your pet? Especially in the busy schedules of people, they can’t take care of their pets properly. For overcoming this problem, you need some kind of system to feed your pet.
There’s not much work done in this field especially in Pakistan. Also, there’re two members of our group who have cats in their houses as pets and they’ve been facing the same issue, issue of feeding their pets when their families are not home.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- The system design and prototype presents the basoic level of pet feeding system.
- It is ubiquitously accessible, auto-configurable, remotely control solution.
- Useful for busy people who can not afford to take time to feed their pets explicitly time to time.
