Project Area of Specialization Computer ScienceProject SummaryOur proposed project will help the users find the best suitable options for them to travel intercity, whether it be train or buses. The users will first register through android application and then will be able to choose their departure and arrival city including the date as well as number of people traveling. The application will generate the results of transportation services through which the users can choose the most suitable one. Furthermore the users will be able to insert their budget fare in which they want to travel so that the application can further filter their traveling options. The application will include a payment gateway so that the users can immediately pay for their ticket through debit card, easy paisa, jazz cash etc while sitting in their homes. An e-ticket will be generated and will be sent to the user's email and mobile number. The user can easily show it to the transport service which he/she is using without having any tension of its misplacement. The users can even pay for other's tickets, by choosing the guest booking option and entering the guest's CNIC and mobile number so that the e-ticket can be sent to their mobile. Moreover there will be a location GPS for the users to see the exact location of their transport service terminal which they choose in order to reach their without any hustle. The database of the users will be saved in the cloud.
Project ObjectivesWe aim to develop a system which benefits the passengers by selecting and paying for the best suitable transport service according to their needs without any hustle. Our project will mainly focus on the following objectives:
- The system can allow users to search for the best suitable transportation means.
- The system includes payment gateway for the users to pay through debit card, easy paisa, jazz cash etc.
- The system lets users see their whole travel history.
- The system lets users filter the price range depending on their budget.
- The system generates the e-ticket on e-mail and mobile number.
- The system allows users to pay for guest's e-ticket.
- The system includes location GPS for the users to search the location of the transportation terminal.
- The system allows user to cancel their booking in case of emergency with a 24 hours money return.
Our project phases are defined broadly in Three categories, according to the scope of work involved in each Design, Microcontroller Programming, Display Programming, and Integration Hardware.
PHASE 1: User Interface(UI)
UI plays a major role in the success of any software. Simple, user-friendly and standard UI makes visitors experience great and which means the software is going to be successful. Sometimes software’s are very impressive and has a very good database design but are unable to make their existence in the market because of its UI.
PHASE 2: Android and Web based Applications
Smart phones are a common and useful need for daily use of every person. Various android applications are frequently used in smart phones, each serving different purpose. In a system like this, android application will help users to easily access the system without any prior knowledge. Along with that the web application will help the admin to manage the company and users. Furthermore the company will be able to manage their schedule.
PHASE 3: Final Deliverable
Our final deliverable will include an android application for the users where they can register and book their tickets. Moreover there will be a web application for admin and companies. Admin will be able to manage users, companies and view their schedule. Company will be able to manage their schedule. An e-ticket will be generated after the user pays for the ticket. Scanners are widely used in market for authentication and verification of various products. Our scanner will allow the company staff to verify the e-ticket of the users before they board their respective travel service.

The final deliverable of “Intercity e-transport system” will be an android and web based application along with documentation manual having all the technical details of application. It will be developed in Java and PHP language. The application will be compatible with Android Jelly Bean or higher.
This project provides an opportunity for the users to make their traveling experience as a happy and satisfied one, knowing the important information about every transport services. It introduces smart ticketing system for users. It offers an option to select the transport service on cost effective basis. It offers GPS based locations so that the users can easily find their selected transport service's terminal. The users can easily book their ticket and pay for it through means like jazz cash, easy paisa and debit card. Moreover the users can also pay for guest's ticket and the e-ticket will be generated on the guest's mobile phone. People will no longer have to stand in long queues and wait for their turn to buy the ticket, or to enquire regarding bus timings. They can easily compare different transport service's prices and choose the most suitable one. The admin module will be able to authenticate different users and companies. It will have the ability to manage databse by adding, editing and deleting data.
