Project Summary

In earlier times, healthcare service providers conducted vital signs measurements in this massive disaster era, manually recorded them on papers, and communicated over the radio. But when the number of patients drastically increased, it led to chaos among the healthcare providers. The advancements in technology have led to increasing expenses within the healthcare sector.

                          During a calamity, the mismanagement among the healthcare providers, poor communication, and limited resources results in inefficiency in providing quality care.

To mitigate this problem, the proposed mobile sensor-based system won’t only be technologically advanced but also will be cost-effective. The system will consist of mainly five sensors: Electrocardiogram (ECG) module, blood pressure sensor, temperature sensor, hydration sensor, and a pulse oximeter module. The sensors are going to be integrated into one system using Arduino/raspberry pi. Info that is collected from the sensors will be sent to a Wi-Fi module called Node MCU ESP8266, through which the data will be uploaded on the cloud, which can allow the healthcare provider to look at it.

  • . This device will also detect whether the       person has COVID-19 symptoms or not.
  • The reading will be transferred to Node MCU through Arduino which is connected to the Wi-Fi. Node MCU will transfer the readings to the cloud where doctor can excess the readings directly. Then the doctor will overview the readings and suggest medicines to the patient via a phone call or text.
  • This device can also be used for the patient who is facing diseases like asthma, heart-failure, hypertension, TB, diabetes, fever, and immune-compromised

Project Implementation Method

This device will  be connected with the patient’s body, and the device will automatically record the patient’s BP, Oxygen level, heart rate,hyderation level, and temperature . This device will also detect whether the patient has COVID-19 symptoms or not. The reading will be transferred to Node MCU through Arduino which is connected to the Wi-Fi. Then the doctor will overview the readings and suggest medicines to the patient via a phone call or text.

Benefits of the Project

The device that we are going to introduce will be the first device of its kind that can monitor the patient from home and provide real-time information about the health of the patient to the doctor. The other benefits of this device are given below:

  • Covid-19 detection

Covid-19 is an infectious disease. It can spread from person to person. Because of this device, doctor will not have the chance to get an infection. Not the other hospital management has to worry about getting the infection from the patient. This method will be more secure and efficient for patients and doctors too. Patients don’t have to tire themselves, nor does the doctor have the burden to attend the hundreds of patients daily.

  • The biggest benefit of this device is that it’s portable and cost-effective. So, we can manufacture it in bulk and export it in foreign market to gain a healthy revenue to support our economy.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The development of proposed device will be done through following procedure.


This device will use five sensors that collect human's body temperature, oxygen level, hydration level, blood pressure and ECG as shown in block diagram. However, these sensors will be connected with the Arduino/Raspberry pi and will provide data to the Arduino/Raspberry pi which process this data. Then Arduino will transfer this information to Node MCU which is a Wi-Fi connected device. Whereas,Node MCU will send this information to the cloud where doctor can have excess to this information from anywhere which is uploaded by Node MCU to the cloud.
