SUMMARY:


An energy management system (EnMS) is a computer-aided tool used by power system operators to monitor, control, and carry out optimal energy management. The purpose of an EnMS is to determine power generation or power demands that minimize a certain objective such as generation cost, power loss, or environmental effect. Energy efficiency – which can be defined as using less energy for the same or even increased output –is increasingly being recognized as one of the most important and cost-effective solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Along with the benefits to the environment, successful energy efficiency projects also typically improve a company’s overall efficiency, including by increasing productivity and competiveness.

Project Objectives

OBJECTIVE:


To implement the energy system in the department of a company, by adopting the ISO 50001 system and applying different subsystems like plan, do, check and act (PDCA) cycle and energy audit of a company that was designed to allow any organization to pursue.

Following are the reasons we are implementing an energy management system for the continuous improvement of its own energy performance, including:

  • To achieve and maintain optimum energy procurement and utilization, throughout the organization.
  • To minimize energy costs / waste without affecting production and quality.
  • More efficient energy use and better use of the organization’s energy consuming assets.
  • Energy efficiency, collecting required data and bought necessary equipment’s and devices.

Project Implementation Method

IMPLEMENTATION METHOD:


First we start with a diagnostic audit for an assessment of the organization. This will show us the state of the organization and the amount of work for the implementation of an energy management system. Subsequently we plan the necessary measures for the realization. Throughout a neutral certification organization the energy management system is certificated. At the end your company is able to run the energy management system.

Plan: Conduct an energy review and establish the baseline, benchmark against similar sites, set objectives and targets.

Do: Implement the action plans.

Check: Monitor and measure processes, review the level of target achievement and the effectiveness of the EnMS against the objective of the energy policy.

Act: Recognize achievements, take action to continually improve energy performance and the EnMS, derive new objectives.

As our project is industry based project, we designed and implemented energy management system in this industry using the required method and the benefits are listed below;

  • A single user interface to manage, report and monitor multiple buildings regardless of location
  • Monitor, report and utility billing for multi-tenant housing complexes
  • Analytical utility reporting to better understand your building’s energy use
  • Today’s energy cost is drastically increasing, implementing energy management systems in the organization helps in cost reduction as you will be only charged for what you use.
  • More the consumption of energy more will be the chances of various risks such as an increase in energy price or delay in the power supply, power shortage etc.
  • Industry can reduce its carbon footprint as using energy management system carbon emissions are highly reduced thereby reducing the environmental damage simultaneously.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

TECHNICAL DETAILS:


Our final deliverable will include clamp meter (ac or dc), tachometer, three phase energy meter, humidity meter, temperature sensor, lux meter, battery tester and vibratory sensor. We will do perform monitoring of two three phase induction motors (18kw).

The assessment of costs can be performed approximately by examining only the electrical energy used in a power system. However, where optional sources are available, such as imported power from another system or locally generated power. Thus, when the installation of local generation is economically justified by the increased reliability of supply, it is quite reasonable to compare imported electrical energy with local generation costs on the sole basis of fuel costs plus a factor to compensate for maintenance costs and possible deterioration or replacement costs.
