This project deals with the design and development of electric bike which make use of electric energy as primary source. And charging mechanism of the battery through paddling. This project will also be used for the exercise purpose in our daily routine.
Project Objectives- The objective of this project is to design a renewable energy source based around a piece of exercise equipment.

The magnetic flux is used in the alternator to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. This magnetic flux will generate the electric current which is used to charge the battery. A modern alternator consists of both the moving and stationary coils of wire. In the alternator, the rotor uses the current supplied through slip rings to generate a moving field also called flux. Power is extracted from the stationary field coils. The stator use the combination of six coils of copper wire cast in fiberglass resin. The stator is mounted onto the spine and does not move. The moving parts are the magnetic rotors mounted on the shaft. There are two rotors: the rear one behind the stator and the front one on the outside, which are connected by the long studs passing through a hole in the stator. The blades are mounted on the same studs. The blades will drive the magnet rotors to rotate and move through the coils. During this process electric energy is produced. This is how the energy is generated from the padeling process.
In our project our main aim is to connect the electrical components and then we will control the filed current of the motor. These are the steps that we followed in our project to make it possible. To regulate the Permanent Magnet DC Motor we need a driver circuit that will control the speed of the motor. Driver Circuit that we used in our project would have the controlling ability of current upto 20A as varying loads would undoubtedly draw more current To make the Driver circuit we will used DISPIC Microcontroller to regulate the speed of the motor and also control it for braking purpose that will be more helpful in exercising of the peoples.The Controller board is programmed in such a way that varying the resistance in the potentiometer would result in an equivalent value of bytes which the program could comprehend and translate to proportional DC motor speeds
Benefits of the ProjectAs the whole world is moving towards the eco-friendly technologies, the idea of the e-bicycle is also eco-friendly which is also dependent on the transportation purposes. With the enhancement in the fuel price over the past few decades the whole world is moving towards e-bicycles over a motor vehicle to travel across short distance places.
If a man wants to climb up on the rough terrain he could use bicycle for the climbing purposes , we will also use the same way to develop our project which is e-Bike. The whole project composed of bicycle with motor, by controlling the filed current of the motor the overall force of the rider can be controlled easily. The whole project would be design in such a way that the rider can choose his/her own mode of cycling. We will design our project in such a way that people of any age can be used without any difficulty. Our idea of implementation of the project was mainly biased towards providing inter college transportation system and to reduce the use of automobiles inside the campus as a tribute to the “GREEN ENERGY”.

Working
This project is proposed in order to design the electric bicycle that use for the travelling, exsercise purpose and can be used for generate electric power for charging battery which is a power source of electric motor. The motor may also be made to act as generator to charge the battery with pedal power, At charging mode, motor controller turns OFF the power supply of motor and motor is coupled to a pulley which is rotated by a belt and chain- sprocket system of a bicycle structure. By pedaling rotational speed is achieved in the motor’s rotor and it works as generator. DC converter is used for storing power in batteries.
Programming
The programming will be done on the software accompanied with the DISPIC microcontroller. We will do our programming on C language and to make driver circuit with DISPIC controller we will use Protues Software. The programming will bw done in such a way that when we initialize the motor the command of the charging the battery will be active and when the program enters in the loop the potentiometer values will be readed and program gives output according to the value of the resistance that is varying with respect to value of current that needed to feed the motor. With the value of changing current the spped of motor will also be changed. Once the loop is exited, the program goes back to initial value.
Electrical Connections
The motor can be feeded in different ways through the DISPIC Microcontroller, in our project our main purpose is to control the speed of the motor by using controller circuit. For this the potentiometer will be used according to which the speed of motor will be controlled. A simple relay circuit can only be used to turn on and off the motor but with the help if controller we will control speed limit and then this motor will be used for transportation as well as for exercise purpose.
In case a single transistor like TIP120 (BJT) or IRF510 (MOSFET) will be used, it is possible to control the speed of the rotation. There exist smarter DC motor drivers (so called Hbridge) that can control the direction of rotation and even brake. An example of such a driver is MC33887 Motor Driver which is affordable and versatile. This driver can control a single DC motor with maximum consumption of 2.5A and peaks of 5A. Motor voltage can range from 5-28V which makes it an excellent general purpose motor driver. Figure shows the block diagram of the electrical connection. We will used DISPIC in our project to control the motor that will also control the speed of the motor that will be used this motor for the exercise purposes.
