IMAGE PROCESSING BASED FOREST FIRE DETECTION USING THERMAL CAMERA.
Now a day’s forest fire is very severe and crucial problem globally and specially in Pakistan. Every year forest fires happen in Pakistan and many countries which take a lot of human and animal lives as well as it destroy valuable trees, precious forest area and it also causes Ozone layer depletion and global warming. Early Fire detection is very necessary to save valuable lives and trees from destruction. A lot of work and research have already been done in this regard and a lot of systems have been designed for early detection of forest fire but the problem is still not resolved.
So there is a need to design such a smart system while using advanced image processing techniques that will monitor the forest continuously to detect early forest fire and to intimate the forest authority. In our proposed system we are using Thermal Camera to take the picture of fire whenever fire happen and will send the picture to the forest authority through SMTP (Simple mail transfer protocol).
In past normal visual camera was used in many designs but due to their limitations in night time it is not so effective to detect forest fire. Thermal Camera have a lot of specifications but the major advantage of thermal Camera is that it can work and night time.
In our proposed system we are using Raspberry Pi 4 controller due to their specifications. It is smaller in size just like credit card. It has wireless and Bluetooth communications. With the help of Raspberry Pi 4 advanced level of programming can be performed very easily.
Raspberry Pi 0 was used in many systems in past but their performance was not up to the mark due to their limitations.
Furthermore our proposed system is a little bit costlier as compared to previously existing systems because we are using Advance components in our system such as Thermal Camera and Raspberry pi 4.
Previously proposed Fire detection systems used normal visual camera which was not effective in night time. Our system will have Thermal Camera which will continuously monitor the forest during night time as well.
Intimation of fire eruption to forest authorities.
Overall result will be given to in less time.
In our desired project we used thermal camera for the early detection of forest fire. Secondly we used raspberry pi to train the classifier between normal forest and burned forest. Thermal camera will continuously acquire images of forest. When the fire is detected alarm will raise and concerned authorities will be informed by sending picture of affected area through simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP).

By Using SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) the picture of affected area due to fire will be sent to the forest authorities quickly.
By using this system Forests fire hazards will be reduced to its minimum limit. Early Fire detection can save valuable lives, trees from destruction.
The prototype product of FYP in the form of final Deliverable will comprise of thermal camera connected to raspberry pi 4 along with battery gadget and alarming module.
