Home Automation Through Smart Phone Using Wi-Fi
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThis project controls the appliances using smart phone through wi-fi signal. We use wi-fi signal access point mode. Project distribute in tow parts software and hardware. We connect with hardware through android apps that control 6 relays. Relays connected to the output of microcontroller. The appliances control in tow way through smart phone and manual switch. For manual switching we use SPDT switch. This project controls the appliances using smart phone through wi-fi signal. We use wi-fi signal access point mode. Project distribute in tow parts software and hardware. We connect with hardware through android apps that control 6 relays. Relays connected to the output of microcontroller. The appliances control in tow way through smart phone and manual switch. For manual switching we use SPDT switch. In future the project shifted to both mode wi-fi access mode and station mode.
Project Objectives1: To make in a useful form.
2: tow way switching salution.
Project Implementation MethodAndroid application is completed in MIT Apps Inventor and hardware make on 2 sided copper board (PCB).
Benefits of the ProjectThis project is useful for time consuming, handicap people , switching from a distance and without touching the switch board.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableWe use a wi-fi module for connecting to smart phone. wi-fi module connect with microcontroller (Atmel328p) with serial interface. First, we burn a program in microcontroller that write in C language. The microcontroller output connected to optocoupler. The optocoupler output connected to 5VDC relays. Relays connected to SPDT switch and appliances in tow way switching mode.
For relay board and microcontroller, we use 5-volt power supply. For wi-fi module we ASM1117 regulator to convert 5 volts to 3.3 volts. There are reset button and clock circuit connected to microcontroller.
