Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryHome Automation gives a user access to control devices in the home from a mobile device anywhere in the world. The term may be used for isolated programmable devices, like thermostats and sprinkler systems, but the home automation system we are developing we are using Raspberry pi and an app to control all the home appliances like geezer, lights, fans etc. In this proposed system, it will also detect fire, water level and gas leakage by using sensors.
Project ObjectivesOur main objective in this system is to implement a system which will make our home smart. Home automation gives us opportunity to control the electric appliances at our home. Smart lighting can be one. We are developing app for our system through which we can control all part of home from the phone. By using this app we can control every appliance remotely.
Project Implementation Method-
Setting up the raspberry pi for the first time

Connecting the pi with LCD display or laptop

Loading and operating system unto the raspberry

Configuring the pi to enable secure shell (SSH)

-Accessing the device from a remote network
-Configuring the General-purpose input and output pins (GPIO)
-Connecting raspberry pi with a relay board module
-Connecting home appliances with the relay module

Raspberry pi is connected with a display to load the Raspbian operating system on the raspberry.
Benefits of the ProjectThe home automation market is primarily driven by growing need for effective solutions in various domestic applications such as lighting, safety and security. This system allows objects to be controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure. Proposed system is a very good and intelligent technique which reduces human effort as well as easy access to physical devices and we can secure our home from any accident in case of fire or gas leakage. Paralyzed people can use this system because they cannot walk or get up so they can control home just by using a mobile phone.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableAfter all the system implementation and design we will get a complete system. We. will deploy this model in home. after deploying this model we will connect our app to the system to control system. Now we are ready to start our system. After final deliverable we can control many appliances which are connected with relay module. We can check temperature sensor and will set a threshold if temperature gets high Ac or fan will auto turn on. We can check if there is fire in house. and we will get notification if there is fire in home. We can also check the status of rooms which room is using how many lights which lights have what status(ON/OFF).
