Project Summary

As we know the high gain beam steerable antenna is used of 5G than a phased array antenna system to provide enough gain with the optimum scanning range throughout the azimuth plane. A single array is not capable of covering the entire range of the azimuth, hence four antenna array system will be use, to switch between them to cover the complete plane. The scanning capability of this single antenna array is ±35 degree in the azimuth plane. Over the scanning range the antenna gain does not fall below 12dB.The planner surface occupies by entire system (over which the antenna array is mounted), of 30mm ×12.5mm.

Project Implementation Method

Our project is research based in which we will design antenna for mobile device using CST (computer simulation technology) microwave studio. It is a very powerful tool which used FDTD (finite-difference time-domain) numerical method to design and analyze the parameters of antenna.Then we will implement an array and beam steering on array. We will use different techniques to reduce mutual coupling. The performance of the antenna will be enhanced by using different meta material designs.

That means quicker downloads, much lower lag and a significant impact on how we live, work and play. 5G speed and other connectivity benefits are expected to make businesses more efficient and give consumers access to more information faster than ever before. Connected cars, smart stadiums and advanced gaming they all will rely on 5G networks.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

For each antenna feature, there is a requirement for an individual port, which may lead to different losses leading to performance degradation. In this study, this topic was not addressed. Again, it is important to take note of the electrical switches that are needed to be used, their number and the operating pattern. Compact architecture of greater bandwidth and variety in polarization, such that there is no compromise on antenna misalignment that can lead to contact link loss, are also some of the essential things that require consideration. The phase between each radiating element will be controlled by an Arduino. A future publication will address mutual coupling effect and optimized antenna performance results.
