Project Summary

A hexapod is a robot which consists of six legs.Each leg is activated by three servos; one for forward/ backward movement, one for up/down movement, and one to bend the leg in the middle. This gives the robot three degree of freedom,allowing it to move in any direction. Moving parts that perform an activiy like arms and legs. An actuator to control moving parts  and sensors to distinguish environment. If one leg become disabled, the robot may still be that can climb the stairs and also it can detect and pass over the obstacles.

Project Objectives

  • It will be climb on the stairs.
  • It will be cover distance wirelessly.
  • It can be used very hazardeous places to monitor that area.
  • It can reach on that places where human can't reach.
  • It can be detect obstacles.

Project Implementation Method

There are several steps to manufacture hexapod robot in which the first step is to assemble all the parts of the robot, The second is to purchase servo motors (18 motors). A night vision camera is used for monitoring purpose. We all using lipo battery (5.2A) for providing voltage to the motors and controllers (Arduino Mega). We are giving instruction to our robot by a PS-2 Wifi controller. Also we are using a Zigbee Module.

Benefits of the Project

Benefits of Hexapod robot are given as:-

  • It can move on terrain places.
  • It can be climb the stairs.
  • It can be used for spying purpose.
  • It can  be used for rescue people.
  • It will be very useful Defence Industries.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Legged system present major advantages when compared with traditional vehicle because they allow locomotion in inaccessible terrain to vehicle with wheel and tracks.

 Our robot is different because it can climb over the stairs wirelessly. For this we are using special code for its tricky leg movement. We can also monitor all the situation by night vision camera which is located on top of our robot

For obstacle detection we are using ultrasonic sensor.
