Project Title

Hardware Implementation of Smart Solar Charge Controller

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

This Project involves the designing of an MPPT based Smart Solar Charge Controller . An MPPT comprises of a boost converter which is formulated to boost the power in the system and a buck converter which converts high voltage to low voltage efficiently. In this project, a microcontroller, is brought in for tracking the Perturb and Observe algorithm which is used for tracking the maximum power point. An MPPT Charge controller aims to achieve the desired level of voltage and power by converting and controlling voltage and power from the PV module.

Project Objectives

•To design Hardware Smart Solar Charge Controller using Perturb and Observe Algorithm

.

Project Implementation Method

1. DC voltage is provided to system.

2. There is controller (arduino nano) in the controller which compares the panel output at every instant to trace the max power point.

3. In solar charge controller, there is a DC to DC converter (buck converter) so it converts the voltage of panel which is input to votage equal to battery voltage.

Benefits of the Project

1. Battery is prevented from overcharging.

2. Eco-friendly, resulting in healthy environment.

3. Maintenance is easy as they work well even with usual maintenance.
