Green Energy Generation Using Hydro Waves
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe global reserves of diesel, petrol, and other fossil fuels are decreasing rapidly due to their extensive use in production of electricity and transportation. The far-flung use of the traditional fuels produces tons of CO2 yearly, which have harmful implications for the environment, such as greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Research related to clean energy has become a hot topic for researchers to deal with environmental concerns in the last few decades.
According to the latest report, renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind energy systems are expected to generate 88% of worldwide electricity demand till 2050. However, there aforementioned green sources have their own advantages and limitations. On the other hand, Ocean waves are emerging as a new source of generating continuous energy.
In this project, a prototype is investigated to generate electricity from the water waves as a new source of continuous green energy. The floaters will be designed which will moves with the water waves, which will be further attached to the motors through the gears. The gears are designed in such a way to provide movement to the rotator of the motor, which will result in generation of electricity.
Project Objectives(1) To use hydro waves as an alternative of Solar and wind energy for green energy generation.
(2) To design a prototype to generate green energy by converting the mechanical movement caused by hydro waves in to electricity.
Project Implementation MethodThe mechanical design will be first tested using Solid works. The mechanical design includes the designing of floaters, gears, etc. The floaters will be designed in such a way to provide maximum movement from the waves. The floater will be coupled with two dc motor with gears and coupling rod to cater to & fro and up & down motion of the waves. The gears are designed in such a way to provide maximum movement to the rotator of the motor, which will result in generation of electricity up to 5 volts.
Benefits of the ProjectEnvironmental friendly
No pollution
Require very little maintence
Very low running cost
Continuous Energy Generation
Technical Details of Final DeliverablePrototype will be designed and deliver which will demonstrate the generation of 5 volts from the water waves.
