Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe importance of forests cannot be underestimated. We depend on forests for our survival, from the air we breathe to the wood we use. Looking at it beyond our narrow, human – not to mention urban – perspective, forests provide habitats to diverse animal species. They are home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Due to deforestation a lot of the world forest are in danger and specially those forest who are of most value. Due to the deforestation, many of the world famous forest have come in the category of endanger forest. There have been no active monitoring system for these forest check and no proper complaint system. The legal authority didn’t had any record of the illegal cutting and no track record of where those trees are taken to overcome these problematic facts here is a solution known as forest sensor network. In FSN there have been used wireless sensors and Arduino which will send an alert to the legal authority on their desktop. In those desktop an android application will be installed. In that application if a tree is been cut down or being moved from its place, an alert will be send to the desktop notifying them about the cutting and also will show them the location of the cutting.
Project ObjectivesProposed solution will be based on an android application using IOT technology and wireless sensors, to achieve the following objectives for endanger forest.
Automatic detection of cutting of trees. ? Alert to the relevant authority.
Keeping record for each alert. ? Active monitoring of the forest.
Project Implementation MethodThe FSN will the outcome of wireless sensors and Arduino. The FSN will be based on Arduino, sensors, GSM module, Solar Panel, battery. The wireless sensors will be responsible for sending the alert to the Arduino which will transfer the alert through the GSM module to the competent authority. The alert will be saved in the database for keeping the records for the alert.
The traditional system does not indicate any real time monitoring and does not give any warning to the competent authority. The traditional complain system is very less efficient, takes a lot of effort, consumes a lot of time and labor work. There is no such setup which could detect these illegal cutting. Due to these illegal cuttings, not only the environment but the natural habitat living in those areas either migrate or dies due to loss of their home. To overcome these problematic facts, an automatic solution is required which will help in overcoming all these problems.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe best solution for these problematic facts which are destroying our Motherland is an IOT based forest sensor network (FSN). This innovative approach will help in sending an automatic alert to the legal authority and also the location of the area where the cutting is taking place. This real time monitoring system will also save the record of the alert. If by mistakenly someone doesn’t respond at the moment, the alert will be sending notification time by time.
