forest fire surveillance system using wireless sensor network
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary´Forests are playing a vital role in the global, ecological, environmental and socio-economic development. Forest fires are among the most hazardous natural disaster which are unpredictable.
As per International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), over 30% of the CO2 in the atmosphere produced from forest fire and 90% of all wild land fires are due to human actions which causes climate change, global warming.
Forest Fire Surveillance System is the design of a system for measurement of temperature, smoke and flame values using sensors.
The controller module compares the sensed values with preset threshold values and takes decision to prevent catastrophe of forest fire.
Project Objectives´The objective is to detect the fire as faster as possible, and early notification to the fire units. Our objective is to monitor forest fire in order to reduce losses that occur in a result of forest fire.
´This research objective is to build a network through distributed wireless sensors randomly spread in the forest and to create a self-organized and robust network between the sensors to cover large areas in the forests that may be prone to/or in threat of fire damage at any time.
´The function of this sensor network will be to detect fire in the coverage area at regular intervals of time - say every 10-15 minutes- and to send a warning signal to a main server for further transmission to emergency services in the instant a fire is detected.
´When the fire is detected, all of the sensors in the area of vicinity will become active and commence the mandatory start and routing tasks
Project Implementation Methodwe use flame sensor, smoke sensor and themperature sensor whivh connect to the arduino (mega) and then this connect to wifi module to control the sensors from anywhere in the world.we also use a camera to check the live feed to confirm the fire.
Benefits of the ProjectThis project is beneficial for the society to protect their forest against fire. When fire is detected in a region, a rescue team will response according to the fire strength and terrain of the forest. By keeping forest alive, a nature can be clean and green.
