Project Summary

This project converts the mechanical power to electrical power through the rotation of mechanical shaft that rotates the motor shaft, which in return rotates the rotor of motor and gives the voltage at the terminals. The power is stored in battery for later use. The dc voltage from battery is converted to the ac voltages by the use of invertor and ac load can be driven through it.

The energy from footsteps which was of no use before can now be used in the generation of electricity. The running cost is also very low as it only requires the steeping of foot on the  designed step to move it downwards. Maintenance cost of this project is also very little as it just require scheduled oiling of its parts

Project Objectives

To generate electric power through foot-step method.

To drive the load with help of power generated after converting dc power to ac power.

To build a system that can be used for a long period of time due to its low running cost.

Project Implementation Method

The project is more oriented towards the mechanical design and in mechanical design the method used primarily is the rack and pinion method to convert the linear motion to rotatory motion.

When the rack is pushed downwards it rotates the pinion but when rack comes back by the help of springs attached to it. lt doesn't bring the pinion back because of the use of ratchet along with the pinion. This ensures the movement of pinion in only one direction.

The pinion also rotates the shaft connected to it which in return rotate the bigger gear of dynamo connected to it. The purpose of connecting dynamo was to achieve a higher RPM. The larger gear in return rotates the smaller gear connected to it with a high RPM.

The shaft of PMDC motor is connected with the smaller gear of dynamo also rotates with a high RPM and hence voltage is drawn from the motor terminals.

The voltages are shown in voltmeter connected and are stored in the battery, which are later converted to ac voltages by the use of invertors to drive ac load.

Suspension springs x4 ( 6 inch each)

Locking tires x4

Metal sheet on surface attached by rivet (9*4 inch)

PMDC motor 

Power Invertor 24v dc to 220v ac

40 amp battery

Connecting wires of low resistance

Light load such as Led bulb of 60 watt
