Project Summary

Right now, the world produces enough food to nourish every man, woman and child on the planet. But nearly one-third of all food produced each year is squandered or spoiled before it can be consumed. Along with chronic poverty, conflict and a lack of resources, food waste is one of the root causes of hunger worldwide. 
Our mobile application will aim to resolve food shortage problem in the country by taking surplus food for wedding ceremonies, restaurants and cafes to NGOs dealing with feeding needy people are to food banks with the help of proper system which will include volunteers who will pick food from source to destination.

Project Objectives

The aims and objectives of this project are as follows:

? Save Food

The extra food in restaurants, cafes and receptions will not be saved for a better use.

? Feed the needy

The food saved from different sources will be used to feed the needy person in a better and respectful way.

? Save Time 

This application will help people to donate their time to people who can’t help people in terms of money.

? Save Environment 

Discarded waste rotting in landfills gives off methane, a potent greenhouse gas 25 times more efficient at trapping heat than carbon dioxide. If we will be able to decrease food shortage we can also decrease the levels of methane in our environment.

? Create Awareness about proper use of food

Slowly and gradually our application will aware people to save food even if it is one bite.

Project Implementation Method

Project will be developed on Android and it will be available to all smart phone users.

5. Methodology 

People:

The main idea includes three kind of people:

1. Those who want to donate food

2. Those who want to get food

3. Those who will take food from the one who wants to donate to the one who want to take the food.

Main Idea:

The main idea of the project is to save the extra food. So in this application the one who will have extra food will post the amount of food they have and the one who need the food (probably the food bank) will tell the location. The person registered in the volunteer portal will help to deliver the food.

Benefits of the Project

The problem of food wastage leads to the problem of food shortage in the metropolitan areas of Pakistan The purpose of this project is to identify a system to solve. The basic hypothesis is that urban food shortage can be significantly lowered by decreasing the levels of food wastage. It is proposed that in addition to a decrease in food shortage, the system can also gradually bring a better environmental change in the urban areas.
