This project consists of a drone on on top of th drone are a series of gas detection sensors used to detect harmful and dangerous gasses in our environment or a certain vicinity. The gasses detected by the sensors will then transmit the data to our webpage for display. We are in the process of developing a webpage for the collection of data and analysis.
Project ObjectivesThe main purpose of our project is to ease the lives of those working in harmful environments and to create a safe environment for our future generations. Develop the project in a friendly budget and also to make it more reliable
Project Implementation Method- Design and develop a drone
- Buy a micro controller. Arduino was top priority
- Place arduino microconotroller on top of the drone to map out the location and provide stability to the drone.
- Integrate the gas sensors, node MCU to the arduino.
- Design a fiberglass top to protect the arduino from rain and also be less weighted.
- Mount the microcontroller and the top.
- Develop a website to transmit and view data upon.
- Since the drone has propellers which will suck the air in a fixed perimeter, we needed to mount the sensors just far infront of the propellers to prevent it from mis calculations
It is a portable emission monitoring system which means that it can be used to take rounds around the perimeter to collect and send the data to the operator controlling the drone in a car parking area. Air sampling can also be done by this project whenever an organization or a department wants to check the pollution index in a certain area or vicinity they can do that with an exceptional height of 200 meters. Boiler plants and sewage treatment plants, areas which are prone to harmful gas leakage can also be monitored remotely with the help of our project
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe use of Interface Development Environment is essential becasue of the processing time of a microcontroller. We are using an arduino because they are light weight, their interfacing is easy as well as they have drone mounting points which will help us in mapping out the dimensions of our drone.Secondly we will also be using a drone to remotely monitor the environment. The drone will be able to achieve a height of 200 meters easily to cover multiple stories of the buildings in one go as well as withstad the wind speed of upto 60 km/h. We will develop a water proof top for the arduino to prevent it from getting wet and hence damaging it. The drone will send data to a webpage, from there we will analyze the data.
