Drowsy driving is the significant cause of road crashes and accidents. It has been revealed that about 800 people died and 50,000 car crashes occurred due to drowsy driving. Since the drowsiness cannot be measured directly, a precise detection system is required. Considering this prevalent issue, we will be designing a system/app that detects the driver's drowsiness. The driver's face will be captured using a device consisting of a camera which will be placed in front of him in the vehicle. Once the face is detected, the eye region and the mouth state will be monitored, after which the blink durations and mouth state patterns will be matched with the parameters we have already set. The result will then determine whether the driver is drowsy or not. If the drowsiness is detected, an alert will be generated in the form of an audio or a buzzer and a text message along with the driver's live location will be sent to the emergency contacts list

The purpose of this application is to ensure driver's safety and to prevent any road mishap

Project Implementation Method

Project Implementation method:

The Driver Drowsiness Detection system is based on hardware and software, the coding part of the system is done using Python,DLIB and Open CV and then the code is implemented on the hardware which consists of Raspberry pi 4 connected with different devices i.e Camera, GPS , GSM module and Buzzer

Benefits of the Project

The Driver Dowsiness Detection system is made to play its part in reducing the mishaps that are caused on the road due to the drowsy state of the driver, it could play a huge part in reducing the roadside accidents in since a large chunk of road mishaps are caused by the drowsy state of the drivers. Its module like eye detection and face detection make it effective

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable will comprise of the hardware consisting of the raspberry pi4,gsm module,gps module,camera that will help in detecting the face,generating alert and sending the live location whereas the software consisting of the code will include the dlib, open cv for detecting the face and extracting the eye and mouth state patterns
