Project Title

Distributed sensor network in a power plant

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

Power plant has to work for 24 hours and 365 days, it is not feasible to monitor the parameters in
site at each and every instant. Due to injurious working atmosphere of power plant sites, it is time expensive to operate and maintenance .To examine and control
the parameters of power plant like temperature, water level and pressure automatically throughout a
sensor network is a great idea. Pressure sensor, temperature sensor and water level sensor sense the value
of pressure, temperature and water level and send it to the controller in the type of a mini voltage.
Controller made this data visible on LCD display in control room. In abnormal conditions controller also
manage these parameters automatically. This automatic monitoring and controlling of power plant
reduces the maintenance cost and increases the safety. These parameters of thermal power plant can be
controlled in auto mode and also communication of sensor’s data can be done using IOT technology.

Project Objectives

This project helps to minimize delays in data collection with the help of wireless sensors.
All communication and users are wireless based that results in cleaner and cheaper source.
In this project user has access to data from many system or locations in a single place.

Project Implementation Method

we are making a WSN (wireless sensor network) based system that would conclude three sensors i.e. Temperature sensor, Pressure sensor and Water level sensor. These sensors would be connected to a Arduino and this will send readings to the relevant personnel through a wireless system and would allow people to take necessary actions in time which could help in reducing accidents taking place. This can also be a much cheaper and cleaner way to monitor the power plants.
