DEVELOPMENT OF SURVILENTS SPIDER ROBOT FOR INSPECTION OF MINES AND DANGEROUS TERRAIN
Coal is cheapest source of energy and also provides a stable source of energy. Thus, the rate at which it is being produced is increasing rapidly. On the contrary, mine workers face several issues due to the release of explosive gases, dust inhalation, smoke-filled with greenhouse gases, and toxic chemicals, and so on. Maintaining the production and demand along with the safety of miners, is a big challenge and becomes crucial to predetermine the quality of the air in mines to avoid accidents.
The flexible solution to this dilemma can be a reliable cost-effective prototype of a spider robot because it has the ability to move, reach and sense in any kind of complex territory. It also enables the implementation of stable and fast static or dynamic walking on even or uneven terrain and performs pre-set motions programs such as obstacle avoidance, temperature and gas detection, and many more. A microprocessor is embedded in the system along with various special purposed sensors in order to get real-time data and underground environment monitoring through digital wireless communication. The main goal of this research is to reduce the miner’s risk of occupational illness, injuries, and mine disasters.
Our plan is to develop a prototype of a surveillance spider robot for mines and dangerous terrains. It carries different types of terrain sensors such as ultrasonic, temperature, gas sensors to check the quality of the air, detect obstacles and environment. The embedded system installed on it, will be used to record a real-time data and communicate wirelessly. The prototype features a camera, a Wi-Fi module and steering through a six-channel remote control, and 18 servos. The external body of the prototype will be designed by using 3D printed parts and will be controlled by using Raspberry Pi controller.

The purpose of designing this robot is to help the miners to know about the toxic and flammable gases so that it can benefit them to save most of the lives of the miners.
The project report and receipts will be provided after the fulfillment of this project.
