About one-fifth of the world’s population is already living in water-scarce areas like cholistan. the affordable freshwater supply in remote areas is a serious dilemma for both the residents and the authorities. Moreover, large-scale investments (i.e., millions of $) on industrial-scale water treatment plants are not viable for technologically backward countries. Therefore, there is no time more urgent to address the world’s water crisis than now when people are constantly being reminded to use water to combat the virus spread. Therefore, it is the right time to focus on the implementation of small-scale water treatment systems operating on alternative energy sources, especially for remote areas in water-stressed areas like cholistan Here water purification is necessary to make their life healthy and easy. Development of solar still is one of the best project to purify the brackish and saline water.It works on the natural principle of evaporation and condensation. So, it is environmentally friendly project mean does not affect the atmosphere. Furthermore, we can augment its water purification capacity by adding more than system in parrel, using modified solar still, using peripheral cavity to focus radiation one point. We can also use ultrasonic fogger which creates fine mist and increase efficiency of project.
Project ObjectivesMain objective of solar still is to purify the brackish and saline water using the sunlight.
Project Implementation MethodFollowing are the project implementation steps: 1. First of all, make a survey of water scarce areas (cholistan and interior Sindh) where water purification is required here, we analyse and measure the sunlight intensity, wind speed and air temperature. 2. Design a model of solar still. 3. Fabrication of project. 4. Make an experiment to check its efficiency and water purification capacity. 5. Then implement the project in water scarce areas.

Technical Details of Final DeliverableDevelopment of solar still is basically made for water purification. The proposed project consists of two different configuration that was tested; 1. Single slop solar still 2. Pyramid solar still By testing both we conclude that pyramid solar still give high productivity rate. So, we design and fabricate the pyramid solar still, following are the parts of pyramid solar still; 1. A square shape basin used to store the feed water. 2. Transmitting pyramid glass dome. 3. Ultrasonic fogger for creating fine mist. 4. Wax for the prevention of dust and other particles in the system 5. Distilled water collecting channel 6. Distilled water collector 7. Solar panel 8. Solar heater
