Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryHospital is a very hustling and rushy place. It is very difficult for people specifically old/disabled people and patients to find their desired destinations because most people in Pakistan are illiterate and they lost so much time in finding their desired destinations. Our project aim is to build a robot which can guide people to their desired destinations in hospital, This robot will be user-friendly and low cost. It can also be used for transportation of small types of equipment of labs like medicine and injections etc from lab to patient's room. This robot is basically working on principle of Line Following Robot in which Infrared Sensors (IR) used to detect the line track and we will process the data in microcontroller which will give the instructions to motors and the robot will move.
For human interaction, we will use specific commands that Robot will say to the user for taking information about their desired destinations. Now we are working it in the English language but our aim is to make it in the Urdu language as our focus is to make it for the people of Pakistan. For this purpose, we are using voice module v3 and speaker.
Project ObjectivesKey objectives of our project are given below:
1-Main purpose of this project is to serve humanity. As an Engineer, it is our responsibility to provide solutions to people to maximize their time and management.
2-To design compact and usable Guidance Robot.
3-To help and guide visitors/patients in finding their desired destination.
4-To transport medical stuff for ease of
lab assistant and fast delivery.
5-To develop a cost-effective guidance robot.
Project Implementation MethodData collection:
First, we will take data from IR sensors and users' input from the Voice Module V-3 through the mic. The IR sensor give data inform of 0 and 1 it will give 0 when it's on the black line and it will 1 when it's on the white line. We will take data from the voice module in the form of its predefined hex data. We also take data from ultrasonic sensors for the detection of any obstacle in way of robot.
Processing System:
The converted data is fed into the processing system, we use modified C language for processing and visualization. We use Arduino for this purpose. We will process data in Arduino and make decisions for a robot for its movements.
Hardware Design:
After making a robot in its raw form our last step will be to make it in its product form for use it commercially.
Benefits of the ProjectPeople lost so much time finding their desired destinations in Hospital. Also for old and disabled people, it is very difficult for people to find their destinations. This robot will assist them to find their destinations. It can also be used for the transportation of small goods in hospitals. This robot can also be used in industries and hospitals for many tasks but we are focusing on only these of two in our Final Year Project.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableTechnically our project is we are using many different digital modules and a processing system. We take data from different modules like IR sensors and Voice Module for taking data and then we will apply our coding algorithms for making decisions of guidance robot. After taking decisions we will give output to motors so the robot can move.
