Project Summary

Cardio Vascular and Pulmonary diseases are the leading causes of death in Pakistan. Our team is developing a digital stethoscope capable of detecting heart and lung sounds which are amplified and filtered in the chest piece and then these signals are used for detection and classification of heart and lung diseases. The sound can be heard via headphone and waveform can be seen. Heart rate and breath count is also displayed. This is a cost-effective system and can be used for initial diagnosis in basic health care units.

Benefits of the Project

1. Our project is 'low cost’ as compared to the two available competitors i.e. ThinkLabs One and Litmann 3M; and will also perform the 'classification' of the detected diseases on the basis of the respective recordings taken from patients, in addition to basic features.

 2.  Our DigiSteth helps Doctors who want to Detect Cardiac and Pulmonary Diseases by listening to the abnormalities in the respective lung and heart sounds and classify them

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Sound will be converted into electrical signals, which will be filtered out via analogous circuits. It will be digitized and fed into MATLAB for further processing, which will be used for detection of diseases. It will be connected to an android application and cloud storage.
