Development of a Blockchain Based System for Management of Patients Record for a Health Centre in Khuzdar
The project aims at designing a blockchain based system for providing a secure and one step access to the stake holders in the health care sector in Khuzdar. Proposed stakeholders are patients, Doctors, health centre incharge and pharmacists providing medication. During the project , related medical data for patients will be obtained from the health centre and after going thriough SDLS and SRS, a databtbase of the selected data will be created. Intitally it has been proposed that four stakeholders mentioned above would be given access to the database using userrname and password. Blocchain tools for example Ethereum would be used to create blockchain which will provide secure access to the system. It is also envisaged that a mobile application can be developed using blockchain. One of the main purpose of the project is to understand the working of the latest technology of blockchain so that in future more sophisticated projects could be designed using blockchain. The project is a step in line with the vision of Govt of Pakistan emphasising the use of latest technologies including Artificial Intelligence and blockchain so that skilled persons in this area can be provided.
The objective of the project is to use blockchain technology to be implemented in health care sector providing efficeint electronic records with high level of security. Another objective is to get hands on training on implementing a step wise procedure for blockchain developement in a specified area and understanding the working of latest tools in this regard, It is worth mentioning that very few people have worked in HEIs in Blockchain especially in Balochistan and this project is a small effort towards promoting latest technologies in HEIs.
Existing
Generally in healthcare sector, simple databases are used to store and retrieve medical records. This traditional method has many drawbacks for example this method is not very secure, changes in databases are not reflected normally across all users. One administrator has complete authority which makes a system monotonous where as modern trends around the world emphasise that any decision should be taken by incorporating input from all stakeholders.
Proposed Method
The new apporach dealing with aforementioned problems is to use blockchain especially in healthcare sector. Blockchain could also be considered as peer to peer system which is made up of individual nodees in a network. It enables trustful and reliable transcation where a centralized management is not required though the users do not trust each other or there are unreliable users in the network.

During development of initial database, phases of SDLS will be followed, also details of SRS will be provided. A medical centre of Khuzdar city wil be selected to be used for the data collection. For the development of database a selection will be made based on requirement gathering, data analysis and scope of the project. Tools like Xamp, microsoft SQL server, Microsoft Access or other may be used. For the develpment of blockchain, high level programming languages like Java script or Python may be used. Also for blockchain ,different online available tools like Ethereum, Geth and others may be used and procured. For mobile application development, an android nobile will be procured and applicaiton will be developed using google andorid developer kit or others.
